Forums - Nintendo - Okami Sequel Pops Up in Retail Database

http://wii.ign.com/articles/101/1019137p1.html Okami Sequel Pops up in Retail Database Followup could see reveal next week. by Anoop Gantayat August 27, 2009 - If that whole convenience store thing doesn't work out for them, 7-Eleven could get into the lucrative business of exposing video game sequels in advance of their official unveiling. The latest spoiler concerns a possible sequel to that late life PlayStation 2 masterpiece, Okami. A 7-Eleven online database made mention today of "Okamiden." This is a name that appeared recently in trademark databases. In Japanese, the kanji characters suggest that this is indeed a sequel to the PS2 title which was later ported to the Wii. The 7-Eleven listing isn't actually for the game. It's for next week's issue of Famitsu, which, according to the retailer, will have coverage of the game. If this sounds familiar to you, you might be recalling a similar incident back in late May when a 7-Eleven database listing for an upcoming issue of Famitsu PlayStation mentioned a new Metal Gear game. This was prior to the formal announcement of Rizing and Peace Walker. The mention of Okamiden comes in a listing for the main Famitsu magazine, which covers all platforms. There's no indication of platform for the game. However, it may be worth noting that the Wii version of the original has been getting considerable attention in Japan of late, where it's due for release in mid October. Sorry if this is jumbled up, as the formating screen isn't showing up right now on my browser for the chat forum >_

Capcom hates Wii. I don't believe it.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Okami Wii sold a fair bit more than Okami PS2, so I'd expect it on Wii.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Let's see if this is true then....

Okami deserves a sequel, it was a fantastic underrated game IMO. It also deserved better sales than what it received. I also thought it was confirmed awhile back that a successor to Okami was not going to happen? I guess they changed their mind or I misread something.

This isn't confirmed to be a sequel, or related in any way. It probably is, but for all we know, it could be a PSP release of the original, or a Wii Okami-based minigame collection.

Just to add to your point, it could also be for the Japan release of the Wii version.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.
