i wouldn't mind but i don't think it would go over very well with the public in general as a straight 2D game.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

However, I have often felt that the resources used to make it look that way could be better used; I would much rather have it be true 2D with 10x the levels than the visual beauty of 2.5D. |
Actually, I think it's a lot easier to make it with 3D models moving in a 2D plane than it is to make it all with sprites.
I would like to see a big franchise with a sprite based 2D platformer for a home system. The WarioLand for Wii looked okay, but not half as good as Murumasa. I want a Mario or DKC or Sonic with Murumasa quality true 2D.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
NSMB:Wii from what i know is being handled with 3D models moving in 2.5D... Not sprites... if i'm wrong someone correct me...
I think that they never should do a 3D version of NSMB... I keep the 3D ones separate from the 2D ones, and Galaxy 2 is on the way, so we'll get a 3D Mario and a 2.5D Mario...
BTW, i join the petition for a FULL 2D Mario, with high-res sprites and a lot of levels, that could get sold on either the DS or Wiiware...
I thought 2.5D was "isometric" stuff, like Flickie's Island and Equinox. So now it's all about 3D tricks in 2D games such as late 90's Capcom / SNK fighters?
Oh how times have changed.
WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I like 2.5D fine, but I see your point. I really don't mind either way, though.
I didn't mind the presentation at all. The game itself is what I didn't enjoy. Not nearly as fun as classic Mario games.
