Forums - Sony - First Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny Review (by IGN)

IGN Ratings for Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny (PSP)
Rating Description
out of 10 click here for ratings guide
8.5 Presentation
Although Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny doesn't have as many unlockables as I would have liked, the game performs excellently, with few technical problems in sight.
9.0 Graphics
With intricate character models and superb environments, Broken Destiny is one of the prettiest PSP games to date.
7.5 Sound
English and Japanese language tracks complement an appropriate soundtrack. The fidelity of the audio definitely suffers, thanks to the pristine visuals.
7.5 Gameplay
An incredible portable adaptation of the Soulcalibur IV experience. Even though the content and mechanics might feel too similar, it's still fun to play and character creation is always a blast.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
There's not as much to unlock this time around, but the large roster and solid multiplayer will keep gamers busy for a while.
8.0

I was expecting a better review than that. I'm still going to buy it, though.

Well, I said I wasn't going to get SCIV on PS3, since I had it on 360 a while back... I was thinking about getting this, but, don't think I will anymore... I'll get Batman instead, lol.

I wasn't expecting much of this. It's Soulcalibur IV with Kratos instead of the Star Wars characters.

A pretty good score.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Exactly, which is why i choose Dissidia over this, Dissidia is something new and fresh while this is pretty much just a port of IV with toned down graphics and Kratos.

But on the plus side it does have the best character creation out of all Soul-Caliburs to date and thats always a good thing so for this feature alone to create characters on the go i'll still buy it later on mayby end year of 09.

Overall as for the 8.0 outta 10 really good, its no dissidia but its still exclusive to PSP on the go so the only place you'll play any kind of soul calibur game out side of the house it will only be on PSP.

Good review.

Good review.

They could have added Remote Play to SCIV and basically gotten Broken Destiny.

Good thing we're among the few elite who own the PS3 version
