2 mil WW shipments...

That's the one.

Seriously? Yeah WW shipments of 2 million don't equal= JPN shipments only-by definition. I mean seriously that is pretty obvious. With 800k so far in Japan the game will obviously break 2 mill WW no problem and likely quite surpass that if JP Monster Hunter PSP legs bear in at all.

Capcom did...

They expected 2 million copies for Bionic Commando. Capcom had a lot of great expectations lately.

Damn, even if a Wii game outsells every other game on PS3 or xbox 360, it is still a flop.

Yeah despite it costing fractions on the dollar in dev costs. Imagine if this came out on PS3 as originally planned. It would have almost certainly gathered less sales- thanks to userbase. Likely it would never make back even a reasonable percentage of an HD budget for a AAA project( like many HD projects/ especially of the PS3 variety thus far). The jury is out as to whether MH3 will be a blockbuster in JP, but clearly it is kicking ass thus far.

well 1.5 million actually for bionic commando, and it looks like they are stuck at 550k.

As others have said the MH number is WW, and Capcom has said they want to make it popular in the west so we don't know what they were expecting for Japan.

6000 yen isn't even that low....that's hardly what you'd call "bargain bin," 3000 yen for the standalone yeah, but not 6000 yen for he bundle.

It's cheaper than Amazon.  And regardless, the point is that they are in abundant supply.  I've seen many people here claiming that MH3's sales are due to the controller bundles being in high demand and low supply.  That's simply not the case.

Edit - and it most certainly was a bargain bin.  They had Metroid Prime Wii in there for 980 Yen...  On the HD front they had 360 and PS3 versions of KOF XII for less than 4000 Yen (damn, I should have waited), and they also had a Gears of War 2 special looking edition (??  dunno, didn't pay much attention but it wasn't a standard case) in there too.  Plus some other DS stuff.

It's still 6000 yen man, the game came out a month ago of course it's gonna drop.  I know that the black one is the most popular and it's interesting that this "bin" says only white.  If you mean it's not supply constrained then yeah you're right, I never really thought it was.  I believe they already ordered another shipment of the black controller bundles and the white ones aren't moving as fast.

Was it really that high for BC? Ouch. I dont think Gyakuten Saiban 4 did as well as they wanted either. Not a good time for them. As for MH3 in the west, I bet they make the online free. As for your other post, again, I'm just pointing out that they are in abundance off the shelf. They may have had black too. Dunno. I'll check when I pick up my Slim next week.

Why are we discussing sales, supply, demand, etc... on the basis of one picture taken by a forum poster who I believe to be slightly not a big Nintendo fan?

We should rather discuss using data provided by VGC, NC and Famitsu and see how this game's legs will develop in the post obon weeks ahead.

In this 1st post obon week, it fell of course but not by that much (we can compare to WSR for example). Now the following weeks will let us see if it develops MH PSP type legs or MHG Wii type legs. If I had to guess, I'd take the easy route and go for something in between...

By all means, make your own conclusions.  If you want to go looking for one picture of MH3 controller bundles sold out in Japan, be my guest.  The Bic Camera store I go to is a big one in a busy part of Yokohama.

As I've clearly said, I posted this as futher evidence that these bundles are not in short supply at all.  It's up to you if you believe that or not.

As for Nintendo, my first game system of any kind was a Nintendo Game n Watch.  Juggler, in fact.  Still got it, but the LCD is a bit messed up.

Just going back to an earlier post regarding the price, for example, WSR was not to be found in this bargain bin.  Nor were a bunch of other games released in the last month or so.  Games that have not been oversupplied.  I gave examples of other titles in the bin.  Just look at the sales of KOF XII in Japan, and you'll understand.  Same goes for Gears of War 2 - the drop off on that is terrible.  Went from 60K week one to 6K week 2!!  Then week 4 it was 980 copies.  All of the games in the bin have a surplus of supply over demand.  There's really no disputing that.

Well, they spent a lot advertising MHFU on PSP and while sales did improve, they still aren't very good.

This is the first evidence I see. (bolded above when you state "further evidence" thereby implying there was evidence of this already). But this is beside the point anyway. What I meant in my post was that I do not see the point of discussing sales (or supply/demand) based on pictures (ie anecdotal evidence) when we have VGC, Media Create and Famitsu giving us weekly figures.

That means that if you are right in saying that MH3 (even the CCPro bundles) is having a hard time selling, we will know soon enough.

Making a thread based on your evidence comes out qs foolish and wishful thinking. But once again, you may be proven right in the weeks to come (ie sales of MH3 drop off quickly and disappears from the charts).
