Forums - Nintendo - I think i know why nintendo isnt dropping price

My bad lol its very late here.

Pacman taught people to run around in dark rooms munching on pills while listening to repettive techno music and for that I somewhat idolise him.

u cannot make a HD expansion via USB.

the only thing it woud do is upscale badly haha.

Maybe would he really say Wi HDD?? Through USB or update it wouldn't be difficult...instead, as someone said in other threads, Wii is capable of HD, just is not allowed because of Nintendo, but to output HD it would require a better hardware to do the same job as now, not to cut on something else just because of the HD graphic.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

nope, I reckon Nintendo isn't dropping the price because there taking a wait and see approach, you see Nintendo right now is still out selling their competition, and usually around this time of year sales are low, they usually start picking up around September as the holiday season approaches.

Nintendo wants to see if the PS3 and 360 price drops have any major affect on them, plus there hedging their bets that sales will increase once the holiday season is in full swing, and also hoping that New Super Mario Bors Wii moves tones of wii.

There is a risk with taking this wait and see approach, you see there is a 50% possibility that that wii starts moving off shelf's once the holiday season is in full swing along with the release of NSMB wii, and this is great for Nintendo, but their is also the 50% possibility that between PS3 and 360 they can start out selling the wii through the whole holiday season, because of the price cuts, as well as a possibility of these price cuts potentially affecting Wii sales, and this of course is real bad new for Nintendo.

So the risk is that if Nintendo's guess is wrong, and the competition starts out selling them as well as hurting there sales, by the time they actually notice these affects hitting their bottom line, it could be to late for them to react, and in essence risk the potential of completely missing this holiday season, as the competition takes the majority of sales. Of course if this happens, then one can say that Nintendo became to arrogant for their own good and caused them to trip.

Now before people go all mental on me, just remember that it's my opinion, and the possibilities of it going both ways are written there, so take that as you will, but keep in mind that what I've written is a possibility, and as crazy as a possibility may be, there is always a chance that it could happen, hence it being a possibility to begin with, of course it could easy go in Nintendo favour, but that's just how possibilities are.

I'll rather say that... they don't need to b/c they are still selling?

They really don't need to.
In the eyes of the stock holders, they have already won this generation and they are looking for ways to move software more then anything.

This Christmas they can actually get away without lowering the price because

A) Big games (Wii Fit + , NSMB Wii, will sustain first party cash)

B) Still the cheapest on the market unless you want a barebones X360

C) Third Party games will hopefully thrive such as last Christmas...
Look at how many million Sallers were eeked out by Years end 08

It wouldn't surprise me if they did drop the price to get a last push in huge hardware sales, but right now they aren't competeing with anything but their own sales numbers.
I say its 50 / 50

Predictions For Last Full Week of Sales in 2010)

WII - 80.35 Million

360 - 43.88 Million

PS3 - 41.40 Million

More terrible predictions coming Jan. 2011!!!

No there still selling well.

My wii already supports a 500GB HD through the use of homebrew lol.

You are mixing up HD = High Definition, with HDD = Hard Disc Drive

no i think he means that through homebrew his wii has a 500GigaBytes of storage (GB) and it is High Definition through homebrew as well.

To add value to the current price-point is probably closer to what they'll do, though they won't add value in that way.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm starting to dislike Nintendo's attitude...
