Forums - Nintendo - What will nintendo do with the price drops of the other systems?

There are really five things they can do:

1. Drop the wii to $199

2. Package wii sports resort with a wii without dropping price

3. Package wii sports resort with a wii with dropping price to $199

4. Package wii sports and resort with a wii without dropping price

5. Package wii sports and resort with a wii with dropping price to $199

Personally, I like the fifth one.

Now nothing, after their fall conference we can say that at 90% they'll do something, likely reguarding NSMBW or WSR o WF+...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Nintendo won't have to do anything, save for just keeping up the games that sell the system. And they have the games Buzzi just brought up.

I also expect the black Wii to come over here before a price drop.

They'll do some bundles with colors or two games. A bundle with both Wii Sports resort and NMSB would be a big winner - maybe even the black wii.

No pricedrop, maybe next year. Nintendo doens't really care that much about marketshare. They like to make money.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I like:
Bundle with Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion+ and drop to $99

I'd buy a wii tomorrow with that deal, even though I'm broke.

And they want to expand the game market. Don't forget that. They've been stating if the game market just stuck to the current type of customer, gaming would keep shrinking.

Price cuts are for competing for a market. Nintendo is about appealing to the market this time, not competing.

they dont need to do anything, the Wii is still market leader, weekly, monthly, yearly and LTD, the Wii is still the best selling console, why would they worry?

only way they need worry is if any of the following happen:

PS3 outsells the Wii by a fair magin each week
360 outsells the Wii by a fair margin each week
PS3 and 360 outsell the Wii by a fair margin each week

my advice, dont hold your breath

They could easily do your #5, but more likely just #1 and continue with regular wii sports.

I don't expect a $50 price drop until May-October 2010.

Nintendo said again today (yesterday?) that they won't be dropping the price. There's an article on gonintendo for that.

Maybe they'll release the black Wii and controllers.

New colors would be great.
