This article in general saddens me. Cross-game voice-chat AND in-game music will never be on the PS3, most likely. Very sad.

no, its developer choice, and not manditory. Its EA's fault that it isn't manditory.

How is it EA's fault? They created a game, obviously before Sony started work on these features, so there's no way they could have taken that into account when coding it. Sony couldn't get features working on the PS3 without making that game perform worse. Fanboys then blame EA, but why? If you're the head of a games development company and Sony contact you and say "we're bringing out an update for the PS3 that will make your game perform worse", I'm sure you wouldn't exactly be thrilled about it, and you probably wouldn't be too happy if you were a PS3 owner that owned that game. Sony should be able to implement new features without affecting games in a detrimental way. They're to blame for trying to patch Xbox 360 features into their console years after it was released.

However, the source said that only a small percentage of games had serious problems with the new features. Not only that, the supposed game that caused this whole stink was a Harry Potter game.

If that's true, a freaken movie tie in is what was stopping stuff like in-game soundtracks and such from being available for all games that would support it.... Instead we're left with it being the developers choice to implement it or not and that hasn't been working out all too well thus far.

Holy Crap. EA....they were getting so much better too. Order of the Phoenix?! Seriously?!?

It hasn't even been confirmed that EA are the ones responsible; some guy who has been right a couple of times before just posted it in the N4G forums, and the fanboys just went wild on the EA forums.

This is going to be the biggest April fools in August, ever.

Let alone its EA's fault because the complained that implementing these features would make their trash movie tie-in game inferior to every other game on the market, while believing that the game actually doesnt fall flat for being trash on its own without the help of random feature sets available to developers.

It doesn't matter what the game is. Sony couldn't implement new features into the PS3 without it affecting how some games play, so the developers of those games are within their rights to be pissed off about it, as are the people that own those games.

EA are being made a scapegoat here, and it's no surprise to see people unwilling to place a single ounce of blame at Sony's feet. People who are that obsessed by this stuff that they'll wish death upon someone's kid or plaster a forum with offensive images have mental health issues. What's worse is that it's all based on a completely unsubstantiated rumour. I'm not referring to you or anyone else here in this last paragraph BTW.

yeah I think they must be sick to put those images and enjoy it , I believe that they jerk off while posting the images, but really I have a picture (in my mind) of those guys that are posting all that shit and they look really retarded. :S

F.U. Fun University.

I just remembered something...

You can use the in-Game XMB in MGS4, but not in MGO. Doesn't that mean it falls into the 5%?

DAMN YOU KONAMI!! Or perhaps SONY only tested MGS4 and :P

4 ≈ One

I call bull $hit, and I do believe the reason sony had taken in game music for most games was due to the fact Microsoft held a patent, same reason why the PS3 LOST IN GAME XMB at launch.. Microsoft had patented the feature, but sony went around it (took them nearly 2 years but it was worth it).

The custom soundtrack feature was going to be released in 2.4, but it was taken out because of the patent, If 95% of games use the feature, it really doesn't matter what a company says (it would be pathetic for EA to say we are dropping the PS3 when most of there revenue comes from the PS3) they just need to make sure there next game is coded better.
