How is it EA's fault? They created a game, obviously before Sony started work on these features, so there's no way they could have taken that into account when coding it. Sony couldn't get features working on the PS3 without making that game perform worse. Fanboys then blame EA, but why? If you're the head of a games development company and Sony contact you and say "we're bringing out an update for the PS3 that will make your game perform worse", I'm sure you wouldn't exactly be thrilled about it, and you probably wouldn't be too happy if you were a PS3 owner that owned that game. Sony should be able to implement new features without affecting games in a detrimental way. They're to blame for trying to patch Xbox 360 features into their console years after it was released. |
However, the source said that only a small percentage of games had serious problems with the new features. Not only that, the supposed game that caused this whole stink was a Harry Potter game.
If that's true, a freaken movie tie in is what was stopping stuff like in-game soundtracks and such from being available for all games that would support it.... Instead we're left with it being the developers choice to implement it or not and that hasn't been working out all too well thus far.
