Forums - Microsoft - BBC: Microsoft in web photo racism row

I really hate when people try to make a big deal and blame Microsoft the company for these things. It was probably done by a single employee or something.

And Carl, silly little comments like "Homophobic, racist, what's next? Either way it is pathetic" is pathetic. Microsoft is not homophobic, racist, or anything. The media sure loves to have a field day and anyone who would believe such things is ridiculous. The homophobic issue was just after a violation of their ToS and now this was probably just a polish employee's bad judgment. Not mean old MS.

Im talking about the accusations being thrown Microsofts way.

Im not calling them those things.

i like how some person are trying to defend MS and if other company did it they would be plain racist and should boycott them. meh , everyone is racist so lets just forget about it.

Hey, just thought about this. Isn't that a Macbook in that picture? Obviously referring to the white laptop.

Funny when people try to make the racist thing just to black people.

I would have thought it was racist even if they changed from white to black or white to asian. They could have taken a new picture or not changed the picture at all. Another thing is that Polen have foreign people so the excause for marketing is not good enough, what about the asian? You cant even complain of things that are wrong now days without being laboured as the sensitive person who cant understand the society. I'm not saying that Microsoft is racist. I am saying that big companies should watch out doing such stupid things. Was it really worth to photoshop that picture? I would like to hear the discussion they had when they changed the picture.

I agree. I always find it funny when people use this weak argument because their unoriginality doesn't allow them to come up with a valid point to disprove racism.

I also agree with this.

Everyone defending this has yet to give a solid point on why this is not racist. Someone mentioned trying to meet a deadline? LOL you can't be serious. They have time to photoshop one head but not the other? I've seen people photoshop stuff like this within a matter of minutes. At least come up with a better reason.

The world you seem to want to live in is a scary one, where everyone become so sensitive that they're easily offended by someone else, and where the offended start accusing before even asking the accused what his/her motive was.  You have no way to prove this edit was done for a racist reason, anymore than I can prove it wasn't.  I'm just going by past experience working for a large company where most people were just trying to get their work done, not looking for ways to offend people.

The attitude of "you're guilty of racism because I say so" probably causes more racial tension that a lot of these "offensive" actions actually cause.

Looks like an improvement imo.

i kid!

Anyway, if you replaced the asian guys head with a white head no one would care, or the white guys head with an asian head.

But oh no! the minute you replace a black guy it becomes racist, gotta love the screwed up views of society.

you are right on the mark. black (and hispanics)  people are so preoccupied with racism and their views are so narrow that whenever they are treated bad, they think it is because of their color. what they have to do is not publically complain at the public which will not change anything, but unite the black people and educate themselves and change the view point of their race. back in the 1950s, jews were treated worse than any other race in the united states. but look at them now.

How amusing that you generalize entire races of people as being "preoccupied with racism" and then complain about narrow perspectives while simultaneously implying that because Jews were treated poorly (which wouldn't even be the first time) all other peoples' struggles are hereby meaningless. If anyone needs to educate themself it would be you, but please, keep spouting ignorance. It's certainly entertaining between that, the photoshops in this thread, and the hilariously poor arguments such as "Poland is really eacist so they had to change it even though the asian guy is still there" and "my step dad is black and speaks for all black people so you're wrong!"

People make such a big deal out of it its unbelivable , but if you look at the context its just stupidity that's all that doesnt really offend anyone, it's not racist because it doesnt produce any sort of negative feelings, a black guy from an ad got removed from a picture designed for a country with pretty much homogeneous white population (around 99%),  i dont really see harm in it.

I think you're all missing the much more sinister element to this phtot: The white woman has a desk top setup, the black/white man has a laptop, the asian man has...paper and a water bottle. What the hell man, keeping the Asian man down!

Hahaha, I was waiting for someone to turn my blank background into a Solid Snake one. I actually thought about doing the exact same Snake picture but I stopped. Had to do something :)
