Forums - Sony - Why are some hyping Demon Soul like it is a game changer?

But if it came out in the uk it would cost me £35-40 at my local retailer. Call me frugle or what have you but I would rather save those £8 extra pounds and put it to something else.

With that said, I the kind of guy who likes to wait until games come down in price before buying, now I admit I know next to nothing about importing games but the last game I important was on the psp, well over 2yrs old but still cost me £40 so rather than wasting extra cash and going through hoops just for a game, I think I'll keep my money thanks.

In the post I replied to above you said you wouldn't buy it because it hasn't been localized on principal which is very petty. If you don't want to buy it because it's too expensive that's perfectly reasonable, but you're kinda contradicting yourself with your follow up statement. Sounds to me like you're bitter over it not being announced in the EU and wouldn't want it even if it was only 35 pounds to import.

Yes I am bitter.

If I'm 100% honest, I'm putting of this game because it's supposedly incredibly hard to play, I'd like the option to try before I buy (e.g borrow from friends or to a lesser extent rent) or at least get it when really cheap so if it's not 100% to my taste, I won't feel too bummed.

However with importing, I don't think there's a try before you buy option.

Also, I don't get why I have to really go out of my way to get a game.
Why limit a game in specific areas and then scratch your heads why it doesn't do well in terms of sale, never understood that.

This isn't exactly some niche japanese game that would make westerners scratch their heads going "lulz wtf?!" I don't see why Sony are saying "fuck it, not worth the effort."

Whilst on the subject, don't see why they are saying "fuck it not worth the effort" regarding the GOTY version of LBP WHEN IT'S FUCKING MADE IN EUROPE!!!!

As far as I'm aware that's still not coming out in the EU which baffles me no end, so you know what? Rather than jumping through hoops, I too will say "fuck it, not worth the effort."

I'm well aware my view won't change anything but "fuck it."

Sony didn't bring Demon's Souls to North America either. Had it not been for Atlus it may have never came to NA. And yes, it is a niche Japanese game with a limited appeal, so I can see Sony's reluctance in bringing it over. The difficulty is a bit overblown as well.

You own a ps3 which is completely region free for games. If you don't want to take advantage of that and refuse to take any risk when buying games, that's your prerogative. But even if you didn't like it, how hard would it be to resell it within the UK? Probably not hard at all and you'd get a big chunk of your money back. Oh well, your loss.

So if Atlus can bring the game to America why not EU? Going a little sidetracked here but if D-Soul is niche can LBP be tarred with the same brush? Back to D-soul. I don't understand why a game which technically appears to be a dungeon crawler can be considered too foreign for European taste. I can understand something like Katamari, Noby Noby Boy, Devil Dice and the likes being considered niche but I don't see why Demon Souls can be considered the same. ( i know they are not made by the same people but I hope you see the point I'm trying to make here i.e Demon's Soul has a better market than some games we do end up getting.)

I agree with your idea of reselling games but me as a personal rule, don't believe in selling games or consoles as I'm very stringent with the choices I make when I decide to buy games, when I do buy a game I plan to keep it until it wears out or disappears. So the thought of selling games on is against my "principal" hence the reason I never spend more than I really need to.

They don't publish in Europe. That's why Koei and Square-Enix published Persona 3 and 4 there.

^why people call this game "very hard" is beyond me. I guess it's hard for the typical RPG, and you don't get the option to make it any easier, plus you don't get to "retry" many things (as buying something, regret it then reload the game as nothing happened) as this game saves automatically at all times whenever you do anything, and you can't save it for yourself or reload to a previous time in a game. Also, there are no "checkpoints", you die in a stage and you must go through it all over again, enemies and everything, only certain "shortcuts" you can unlock within the stage can save you some hassle on another run, and of course you never lose the items you get even if you die millions of times.

But overall is not a "frustrating hard" nor a "Break-my-butt in half-hard" game. A game like Ninja Gaiden Black is certainly harder, as it's a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 played in Big Boss Extreme or Uncharted on Crushing mode. Now there's a challenge. The difference is Demon's Souls is a lot more challenging if you're left completely on your own, but even playing online you get hints everywhere. And thank God for the guys who wrote the WIKI (http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/intro) I don't know what I would do without them (probably wait for the official guide with the US release)...so yeah, that guide too is everything you need to make an amazing experience even more fulfilling/bearable.

Regarding Persona 4, unless I'm mistaken, it was on limited release in the EU. Why can't Sony self publish D-Soul for the english speaking countries outside NA, release like 10k and send it out there, would it really cost that much? I mean game is already in full english (The NA release even more so right?) In my opinion this is minimum effort needed, I'm probably wrong but oh well.

I'm still waiting for EU-version. =,(

This game sounds very awesome and challenging so it got my interest. I just hope some company would publish it here.
