Forums - Nintendo - Why everybody hates cammie dunaway?

She does tend to promote the impression that Nintendo is well out-of-touch with the average gamer.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Cammie is a marketing person. Nintendo has chosen to market its systems based upon fun (rather than over-hyping specs or belittling the competition). So it is her job to convey fun.

Fun appeals to those who think of video games as play. It does appeal to those who think of video games as a challenge. Hence lies the rub.

PS -- Cammie is no dummy. Her degrees from U of Richmond and Harvard say that.

What a pretentious post. Last I checked, the PS3 and 360 offer plenty of fun. They're also marketed as such. When Cammie threw a disc for a dog to catch it, that didn't really look fun. Nor did a lot of other things she showed off.

Why thank you for the complement!

Seriously though, it is how I think of the difference between the "hard core" and the "casual" gamer.  If you are trying to complete a game and rack up all the achievements, you are in it for the challenge rather than to just have "fun."  Meanwhile, others play just to have a good time.

I will admit that it does come off sounding a bit harsh and certainly the two states are not mutually exclusive.

Looking at other comments, the problem with Cammie is that she appears to be "fake" -- and there are just some people who are that way no matter how sincere they are about something.

Since I doubt that virtually no one here (participating in this particular forum discussion) has met her or talked with her, making presumptions about what is in her heart is really being pretentious.

I've seen Cammie Dunaway for years now, since her Frito Lay and Yahoo days, she is really good on marketing decisions, but as a spokesperson she looks very false and annoying and that's not good, since E3 2008 i refer to her as the crazy-soccer-mom-sarah-palin-wannabe (because that's what she tried to reflect in a very annoying way)...

Of course, E3 2008 wasn't her fault (that was NoA's fault overall) but the way she presents is nothing good, either serious or "having fun" she looks really bad...

And i'm not being partisan on this, MS has Don Mattrick and i can't stand him (too arrogant), Sony had Ken Kutaragi (also arrogant) and has Kaz Hirai (sometimes good, rest of the time lifeless)...

I think signing your name and hometown at the end of all of your posts is kind of pretentious.

And when I don't do it ... or stopped doing it, I had several inquiries as to why it wasn't there.

Cammie is a stupid girl and got her girl cooties all over the wii, and that's why it's not super hardcore. Reggie, Iwata, and Miyamoto are all boys like me (Only they're older than 14, lol) and thus they love seeing people get shot and killed with chainsaws and ridiculously good graphics. CAMMIE RUINED THE WII WITH HER STUPID FUN GAMES AND GOOD CONTROLS.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Acolyte of Disruption

I think it has a lot to do with blaming the messenger.. Her debut E3 presentation was the worst ever but it wasn't really her fault the games were sub-par.

It could just be because she is a woman.....that isn't a booth babe.

Exactly - and if you're not a booth babe but "just" a woman who works for a gaming company, you have to to look like this to be accepted by gamers (granted though, Jade Raymond is a beauty...).

People rarely make fun of the looks of people like - say - Gabe Newell or Steve Ballmer.

If Cammie Dunaway looks creepy, behaves strangely or is false - that's what people stated in this thread - my vote in all three sections definitely goes to Steve Ballmer. Most annoying person in this industry in my opinion, Cammie Dunaway doesn't even come close.

because the bitch owes me money

nah i'm just kidding, its probaly because of how much she failed at E3 2008 and that she personifys Nintendo's focus on casuals above core gamers and thier own fans. She's the perfect scapegoat.
