Forums - Sony - Sony should make PSP games playable on PS3

The Playstation Portable's hardware is very similar to the PS1 and as the PS3 can play PS1 games,it should also be able to play to play PSP games.I know,it would look kinda ugly playing PSP games on PS3 because of their low resolutions but people love playing PS1 games which were similar so they would love this too.

So what's the point of the PSP then?

I know it's portable but how could anyone not buying it for it's portability justify a PSP purchase if every game on it can be played on PS3?

PSP games look better than PS1 games. So there is potential there. Just only after the PSP is discontinued.

charlie seen is coming to get you WuT...

Sony is not going to kill their own sales...

Bad, very bad

This adds alot of value to the PS3 but pretty scream "Hey!! FUCK THE PSP! Get the PS3 and an iPod!!"

perhaps they should bring some of the old PSP games to the PSN on the PS3

Also alot of people will still buy the PSP cause you can take it anywhere and play games on it anywhere unlike the PS3,this is just adding to the PS3 advantage

First of all PSP is as powerful as PS2, not PS1. PS2 and PSP has very similar hardware, not PS1 and PSP. And they wouldn't release PSP games on PS3 because it would hurt PSP's sales.

???

How would this be a good idea in any way?

The idea is not that absurd if handled with care.
With PSPGo we're going to see all the back catalogue of the PSP being converted into digital downloads.

The download can be digitally signed and specific to a single PSP unit. It could very well work that your PS3 could run the PSP game provided that the owner PSP is available and paired via USB or wifi, to provide the authentication and to sync save data.

This way you can play the same game on your couch and with better filtering/upscaling or on the road, but you must own the PSP hardware to play the software on your PS3.

No harm done, more value to both PSP and PS3?

The Playstation Portable's hardware is very similar to the PS2 not PS1
