@MikeB

Then what is your "vested interest" with Sony?

Cause you did tell us you have vested interest.

a few of which are totally wrong.

I think it still remains to be seen if the slimline PS3 will perform roughly as I expect. I think everyone's entitled to an opinion.

hey wanted him permabanned, because he has a few shares in Sony.

And for the record, I never ever owned one share of Sony stock or any other publicly trading company for that matter. It's not my type of sport.

You get things wrong (as humans do), like the whole Asset talk, and apparently you stated previously the PS3 would win the generation. All wrong, but correct, you're entitled to an opinion and shouldn't be harrased for it. As for the Slim, we'll have to wait and see, also you have got quite a few predictions right to you're credit.

As for the share business, I'm just saying what I heard, or seen.

The problem with MikeB is that he never admits he's wrong. When someone proves him wrong, he just deflects or ignores.

Actually I do admit when I am wrong and when corrected politely I usually even thank the person who points this out to me.

It's also not like the original post doesn't highlight some things I underestimated, like for example the success of the Wii (not being successful itself, but the sheer amount of success). Before the Wii's launch some people were spelling Nintendo's doom and were even speculating on the company's exit from home console market. I then stated I thought Nintendo would be well more successful with the Wii than they were with the GameCube and thus I thought such doommongering (from some XBox fans) were uncalled for (like some have been speculating on "Sony's bankruptcy"). But actually it overtook the 360 in a jiffy and went past it in such a way unancitipated by me.

Well, when you're trying to give yourself a defense, posting a link to one of Groucho's posts is the last thing you should do. He was banned for a reason, y'know. It's like saying "Hey! He agrees with me; I'm not crazy!"

Also, there seems to be a lot of people going around saying things like "Oh, I saw that coming! Back in (some time ago) I said that these guys would be doing this, this and that!" You've provided a link to some posts of yours where you did in fact predict the PS3 Slim. However, I fail to see where you 'predicted' Wii's success. Would you happen to have a link?

The BuShA owns all!

@ Garnett

I am a technology enthusiast. I love daring new technology, I love the Cell.

For example back in 1995 I followed the BeBox closely, it had a well designed cool operating system called BeOS. The BeBox was one of the first modern productivity multi-CPU systems of its kind, its OS had the potential to support 8 processors at once. The operating system was designed around this concept with much foresight.

I would have been so happy if MacOS would have been based on this OS as intended. The Cell technology is a similar development, it introduces some hurdles to overcome, but IMO there's so much cool potential. I would like to see a more dynamic and daring OS/hardware R&D market like we had back in the 80s.

Actually I think I am still right, Sony is bigger than Microsoft (from the assets perspective).

It does not matter much, the bottom line was that Sony isn't remotely in the position to bankrupt.

you stated previously the PS3 would win the generation

Like I often stated, I think this generation is far from over (for the PS3). I also don't consider the Nintendo Wii to be in the exact same market segment or technology generation, like the PSP or PS2. I have always stated this from the very beginning, I view the Wii more as strictly a toy console and the PS3 more as a multimedia console.

That may upset some people, but that's my opinion and never ever made a secret of this.

Your bottom line is correct, but Sony cant give away 100M consoles for free by selling off their assets, and that's what I was referring to.

And yes, the PS3 could well end up selling 80M by the end of it's lifecycle, but it won't beat the Wii. It doesn't matter if the Wii is a toy or an ice-cream maker, it will still sell more.

Well, they won't ever do that. I would agree with that.

IMO it was just a funny remark resulting in a lot of overreaction. They have enough surplus €quity to cover that in theory.

I can't say with certainty, if I were Nintendo I would release a "Wii HD" based on radically new technology for the short term (within a year or two). It wouldn't matter to me if they rereleased an upgraded Snes for the Chinese market, which in theory could outsell PS3 and Wii combined and be very profitable, I would still view the technology as a distant past generation.

Why would they release a WiiHD? It makes no sense from a financial nor sales perspective. Also, are you really trying to use the SNES as an analogy for the Wii? That since its technology is older it shouldn't count? The Wii isn't old technology, it is greater than or equal to every console last gen in terms of all specs. And its controller is far newer than their competitors. You said "I love daring new technology", yet for some reason you don't like the new technology of the Wii?

Not right now, but soon. I think perspectives on this will change within a year or two. Neither do I think Sony should discontinue the PS2 too soon, but within a year or two I think it probably will be a good idea. HDTV is making significant progress into people's homes.

In the past I stated here on VGChartz the PS2 still had sales potential (this at a time when VGChartz was spelling its doom for the short term a few years ago). Globally speaking the PS2 still performs pretty well (for example it outsold PS3 and XBox 360 last quarter).

That since its technology is older it shouldn't count?

I didn't say that. And never did I with regard to the PS2 neither.

The Wii and PS2 are certainly part of this generation with regard to sales and global usage. Then you have the technology generation perspective, like we had the 8-bit vs 16-bit era generation. This is seperate, the c64 for example did outsell the Atari ST when both were available on the market, but the ST was a 16-bit computer and the redesigned c64 was part of an older technology generation.

PS3 vs 360 sales

Wait did MikeB just say he admits when he is wrong?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my goodness I just died laughing here at my desk.

We have a problem with him because he purposely tries to deceive people. Like he tried to show the PS3 tracking above the PS2 when it was not, and he tried to show the Xbox 360 DVD drive read slower than the PS3 blu-ray drive, which it does not, and so on and so forth.

And no one ever said he had shares with sony. He has a personal business called "Fun Computing" where he wanted to advertise and sell PS3's as both gaming systems and computers. He was also in talks with Sony to try and get the Amiga OS on to PS3 hardware, which would make him quite profitable.

These are why we cannot take any of his threads seriously because he obviously has some strong personal agendas.
