...I've went into detail on this in another thread...but imo, never buy launch hardware. It's a beta test basically. Especially in this case when the slim doesn't offer much-anything over the new phats.
I will never fill up my 80gb hd(most won't) and The slim is 250w, the new phats are 280w. Very slim difference there. You lose OS installing capabilities, and are buying an item that will probably be inferior with a second wave. You do gain a more efficient cell processor, but we probably won't see any difference in gameplay ever, because the cell is not, nor ever has been a bottleneck.
Anyway, that's just my opinion. When it ain't broke, ya know. It's hard to beat a phat for 299, and I don't know if I'd take a gamble with so little to gain. The new 80gb phats at 280w are VERY dependable.
