Speaking solely for myself, I hate both, but my hatred of the Wii is not related to my hatred for Nintendo; it has its own reasons.
For the Wii, I don't hate the new direction that Nintendo opened up in games; I feel it has applications. Rather, I hate that there is no other selling point to the console besides the controls, because I feel this is what has ultimately opened it up to developers to simply use it as a tacked on gimmick, since they can not offer the features that they would offer on other consoles.
I feel that this has been encouraged by Nintendo as well. They pushed Wii Play/Sports/Fit, essentially defining what games the system would be known for. The Wii is actually quite a capable system; sure not as much as the HD systems, but it is in it's own right. The problem however, is those features are not the selling point of the system, the controls are. Developers could make titles that still take advantage of the hardware, and they are (MH 3, SMG, SSBB; all look excellent), however, they are few and far between. I'm not going to say this isn't because those games don't sell, rather, it's just simply not what the typical consumer expects to see from the console.
Outside of that, I simply do not think the console offers a very good value. It is essentially a gamecube with motiion controls. I am not knocking the system for not being capable; I am simply stating that for it's level of capability, it is overpriced.
For the record, I owned an N64 and still own a gamecube and DS. I fully intend to own all three home consoles as well eventually (right now only a ps3). I don't let my hatred for a system govern my use to enjoy the games I want. My hatred isn't exclusive to Nintendo either, I have plenty left over for Microsoft, and Sony at times.
