That's false, why wouldn't they be into gameplay if there into graphics?

You speak as if HD graphics and good gameplay can not co-exist, but they can, and they do.

A dumb person would choose either graphics or gameplay, a Smart person would choose both, a Smart person would choose both because both are achievable, either through raw graphics power, or smart art style, the fact remains that both great graphics and fun gameplay can co-exist in harmony...and it is this that we as gamers should be asking for, best of both worlds if ya catch my drift.

I agree that HD graphics and good gameplay can and does co-exist.

However, from what I have read from the forums and posts on vgchartz, I feel that people talk more about the graphics of a game and not gameplay.  That's why I said they are MORE into graphics and not gameplay and that's why I feel, in my opinion, the "haters" of the Wii hate the console.  I wasn't implying that someone was dumb or smart if they did choose one or the other.

Wait what? I'm confused. I was saying maybe those who don't like, own or plan to own Nintendo home consoles are tired of seeing certain Nintendo games at the top of aggregate sites like metacritic and gamerankings. That's all. It seems the Wii series has outsold the highly rated games i mentioned but my post had nothing to do with sales in the first place. What are you talking about?

First of All, wasnt it just Nintendo fans going crazy last year scared that GTA was, for a second , on top of Zelda, which we don't care about as much as seeing Wiifit closing the gap on The PS3.

I don't remember any of this, but then again i wasn't really paying attention last year so i can't confirm. I'm sure at least a few people are sick of the highly rated nintendo games though for various reasons. And if you're so afraid of Wii Fit closing in on the PS3 you can calm down because it wont pass it.

Who's woried about highly rated Wii games, I think the PS3 still has more and it's in third place.

I also think the PS3 has more, it certainly has a broader selection of higher quality games and so does the X360. I was bringing up the possibility that some haters are annoyed with certain Nintendo games being rated higher than games they believe are better, and ultimately stay up on top by generation's end. That's all i was saying.

It shows the weakness in the industry, Nintendo may not be doing as well, but they are still doing great, most comapnies would love to be in Nintendo's place right now, the games industry on the other hand is not doing as well, layoffs, closings, mergers, are all signs of failures.

because of the economy, are you trying to tell me that Nintendo foresaw this economic dip and based their strategy for years based on this premonition in order to "save the industry"?  BS, they sell consoles at a profit because that has always worked for them and helped them make it through tougher generations, not because they are the benevalent saviors of the industry.

Nintendo didn't forsee the downturn, but they did forsee that the games industry was in trouble, they've been saying it for years, what they have created is taking gaming in a direcation away from the games industry, and will help to save gaming from another crash

It's neither. They hate that the system they bought or like isn't in first.

Almost nobody would hate the wii if it were in 2nd or 3rd place.  Nobody hates the nonthreatening guy.

Meh, the only thing I hate about Nintendo is their game and accessory pricing. The fact that I have to wait until the console is obsolete to see a price drop on many of their games is just absurd. I see why they do it, but it still annoys me. At least when Sony was on top, their bestselling games eventually saw a budget (greatest hits) release.

Their accessory pricing is even crazier. In Canada a Wiimote is $45 and a Nunchuk is $25. That's $70 just for one complete regular controller. Add on WM+ and that's $90. Not to mention the Wii itself is $30 more than in the US while Sony and MS practice price parity for their consoles.

Actually, I also hate region locking. This has to be one of the most anti-consumer measures ever conceived in gaming. It seems Sony learned their lesson here, but Nintendo (and MS) remain huge fans of making sure their fans have to mod their consoles to play games from other regions.

Next gen. this won't be a problem bcoz people would be crazy if they assumed the Wii2 wasn't the best system to get for ALL third party games of merit. The thing you are going to see is MS securing as many exclusives as possible and Nintendo will do the same.

very well put. Those people are ignorant and childish and don't understand or aprecciate quality when its right in front of them. The shouldn't neither di they deserve to be called 'true gamers'. A true gamer will play and and learn to love any kind of game no matter what system it's on and who made it.

I don't think most Wii-haters actually hate either the console or Nintendo, except indirectly. What they hate, I believe, are the new gamers -gamers who aren't like them- that the Wii is bringing in. They have had gaming pretty much all to themselves for the past two generations, having driven everyone else away. They're now unused to dealing with others, and they worry about what will happen now that gaming is once again opening up to everyone, as once it was.

The Wii and Nintendo are only hated as far as they enable this to happen. The actual hate goes to the Others. And this is why the self-described "hardcore" need to be brought down.



Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

They hate it just beacuse it's nr 1. They just can't stand it, sure it was no problem when the PS2 got the shovelware beacuse then it was thier first choice of console but when the Wii gets it they say it's worst thing that ever happened, everything is Nintendo's fault suddenly... why didn't they say this during the PS2 era?

Nintendo is doooomed no matter what, forget all the billions they have earned, that doesn't count I guess.
