Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's New Direction Version 2.0!! Now with 100% less stupidity!

Let's get this straight. Sonic as a character is actually pretty cool (unless you have seen the new TV show *ugh*, the old one from the early 90's was cool). Now, I have had time to think this entire thing over. I realize I was wrong in many areas (but not all). Sonic's image in SSBB is more than enough to get videogamers giddy with happiness. Having Sonic will certainly boost sales by quite a margin, even though SSBB won't be hitting until after the holiday season (February 10, 2008 in the US).

About Mario Kart Wii......well, it's just that I am a purist. The idea of motorcycles is pretty cool as long as they can find a balance. About Double Dash's co-op mode.....I thought it was really cool how you had to characters per kart. It opened up the game to lots of strategy like "Do I want two light characters? or do I want a heavy and a medium? What specials come with each character and what are the advantages of those characters?" You know, stuff like that. I still think snaking is cheap though. But it is only cheap when you do it against other players in online or local matches. Against the ghosts in time trial though? There is no other way to get the records other than to snake!

Project HAMMER.....yeah it looked monotonous sure. But for some reason it looked like a lot of fun. It might be just me but I certainly had hopes for it.

Disaster.....well the graphics could be better. But you guys were right. It's not like it's coming out tomorrow and that is the final game. But the character models, are really pixelated. But I doubt the game looks that bad in motion. Hell, the quality of those screens wasn't that great to begin with so yeah.....But otherwise, it looks like a promising game.

Well, those are my thoughts (REVISITED!!)

What are yours?

I don't understand why so many people were mad this game was canceled. I mean, what was so good about it? It didn't even appear to have much of a plot.

You do realize that who was in the cart didn't matter except for specials.

Wouldn't a purist, you know, hate Double Dash since it went against the formula?

feb 10th huh????? damn

Proud owner of all next gen consoles and portables.

I still don't own a PS3 game

Personally, after playing Double Dash my main thought was that I thought it would be interesting if Nintendo would implement Karts with drastically different "personalities" ... At the time I was thinking of a more off-road dune-buggy cart in comparison to a street-racing kart which would allow people to come up with their own style of racing.

In my opinion I think that the motorcycles could be a huge ugrade to the series because you can suddenly add a lot more checks and balances to the series; a Motorcycle (for example) is really fast but you have to stick to "good" paths and you need to both turn the the Wiimote like a wheel and "tilt" and an appropriate level in order to maintain controll in tight corners.

Final Fight. Streets of Rage 2. River City Ransom. Guardian Heroes.

Those games had lolworthy plots (OK, GH had lol localization and tried to be too "epic .")

I WANT TO BASH AND SMASH AGAIN.

Dayum, I want a brawler that I can headbutt my Wiimote and get halfway through before I'm destroyed. Then I'll actually get a good strategy and make it to the second last stage. Then I'll perfect my style and get through the game.

Now it's time for Hard Difficulty!

I don't need a story, I need a "you're strong. There's the last boss. Go kill him." excuse to bust some heads. At this point in video game history, it's a lost art.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

SSB:B sonic inclusion is the greatest thing to happen out of those by far.

Mario Kart i am not sure about, i am also a purist (well kind of, i played MK64 first and have only played the orignial once) i remember MK64 with more fondness than with MK:DD, but when i think about it properly DD is a much better game than 64, not just because of the two person idea (though that idea was excellent, kind of like the second player addition to Galaxy...novices can help you without having to do too much)
But i am still sceptical about motorbikes and flips etc, it seems to complicate things too much, but i am probably wrong again as to how much greater this will be, particularly with proper steering.

Project Hammer looked dull from the beginning to me, no more comment on it.

DDOC looks amazing, who gives a t$%* about slightly pixellated characters, the idea behind the game is great and i really hope it works well (ie the controls/game mechanics need to be great)

mariokart for snes was totally awesome...
it took me probably about 10 hours of play on mariokart 64 before i was over all the "changes", and after about 100 more hours it's probably my favorite.
i could never get into doubledash though... although i'm sure it was good and i would have liked it more if i played it more.

the one thing that gets me in those games though is how good the items are when you're in 5th or worse. it kinda bugs me.

other than that, i'm really looking forward to the wii version.

You Spoony Bard!
