we've all heard the rant about nintendo abandoning the hardcore and that the wii is for casuals etc but it got me thinking. is the wii how its turned out better for you than what a gamecube 2 (a HD rival to the 360/ps3 with similar capabilities and standard controls) would have been?

for me id def say the wii as it is.

if we had a gamecube 2 it would still have had the same great nintendo games we're still playing now such as mario galaxy and metroid prime 3 etc but it would have lacked games that are made better with motion controls such as tiger woods and unique games such as wii sports, madworld, zack & wiki and boom blox. so it might have had better graphics and ports of resi 5, bioshock and assassins creed, but if your a multi format owner like me id have prob gotten those games on the ps3/360 anyway just like i did last gen buying most of my multiformat games on ps2 instead of gamecube.

so what would have you preferred to have? a wii or a gamecube 2?

Wii, definitely. I like the innovation that Nintendo's brought to the table, and it's one of the few things that even keeps me in gaming anymore. Had it been a "Gamecube 2", I probably would not even be bothering with console games anymore.

The Wii has worked out great for Nintendo. For me, not so much. It's the first Nintendo console -aside from Virtual Boy - that I have not, and will not buy. As an aside, it looks like the Wii will have by far, the weakest holiday lineup this fall/holiday....again. Would have prefered a GC2. But that's just me.

GC2 wouldve been better in my opinion, but Wii is better for nintendo

I have to say, I don't see why they couldn't have 'also' made Wii a little more powerful than it is in addition to the current innovation.

But, between the two options in the OP, I'll definitely take Wii, thanks.

I honestly don't care much for most of the multiplatform games that Wii misses out on (kinda interested in Bayonetta, but i never liked Devil May Cry, so i probably wouldn't like it that much either), so for me it makes little difference. I'm playing the Nintendo exclusives and the more unique 3rd party games, so it's basically the same, just swap out better visuals for motion controls.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

how can you say that it has the weakest holiday line up because actually this year it has gotten a lot of third party support and i mean good games from third party like monster hunter tri with online and possibly wii speak ( ok so some of the great games are not coming in the holidays but thats just because developers are putting more effort into the games and so aredelayed or come late) and what about NSMBWii and WiiFit Plus and Metroid Prime Trilogy and Other M..... just have a look at this thread its for wii games in 09....

I will be honest but i think wii is getting some of the best third party games this holiday and they are exclusives..
