Everything used to have an edge of seriousness back then, which was enhanced by allowing the characters to cut organic back-stage promos. Now, they just have Cole TELL us about the feuds. There is no build for anything on the mid-card now, other than an announcer saying "these guys don't like each other". It's like the feuds are just meaningless and thrown-together, which is ridiculous for a three hour show. TNA spends FAR too much time with long, drawn-out backstage pieces but at least they're trying to create realistic drama. The WWE seems to have an attitude that anything not involving Cena, Triple H, or the World Titles doesn't deserve much attention. What I really miss are tag team feuds, which used to be extremely intense. |
Hardy's vs MNM was the last good tag fued I've seen. It actually made use of the brand split. Matt would work Murcury on Smackdown (Or Raw, whatever it was), while Jeff would work Nitro (Morrison) on Raw (Or Smackdown). Then they'd come together for PPVs for matches.
