Forums - Gaming - L4D Isn't Needed Now That Dead Nations Is A PS3 Exclusive

Looks great in its own way, but can't be compared to a full release.

Will probably get it. Loved SSHD.

The game looks good but I still want L4D. It's not the same thing at all.

Needed?

I am one of the few people who though this game was beyond overrated, it felt like a prologue. If any other developers had released it, people would have bashed it to death.

you want a tremendous online shooter, play Resistance 2.

Looks like ALien Swarm. A mod for UT2004, but not as badass.

...Because PSN has the capability of selling >2 million copies of a game, right?

This makes as much sense as an Xbox fanboy saying Shadow Complex replaces the need for Killzone 2.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It's made by mousemarque (Super Stardust HD devs) so this will probably turn out good. Gameplay wise it'll be way different than L4D, seeing as it's an analog shooter. That said, I doubt anyone actually thinks this is a suitable replacement for Left 4 Dead.

I think this was about satisfying a gamer's craving for zombie shoot-em-up, rather than pleasing a platform holder with strong software sales.

I am not remotely impressed or interested by that video. Just another top down shooter...but with a twist....ZOMBIES. Seems completely market driven and soulless. Take a simple easy to make genre, and slap something that is popular culture for the moment on it, throw in some kind of online functionality, give a little marketing and watch people go "COol, zombies defeat ninjas OMGLOLBBGSAUCE!!" and then plunk down 15 dollars. Not interested.

If it's not about strong software sales, then that tells me there isn't a gamer craving for a top-down zombie shooter, either. You think that one PSN game in a near-dead genre is going to help Sony out as much as a 3rd party exclusive from a major developer?

Again, making a game in an entirely different genre and style and claiming it counters something is not a viable strategy. Making a FPS zombie shooter would be. Should Microsoft employ Namco to make a top-down racing game to counter Gran Turismo, now?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

But Dead Nations isn't needed, either, because it looks almost exactly like Zombie Apocalypse!
