CoD 4

WaW

Even the pitiful WaW has better character textures than Modern Warfare, which looks like a first gen PS2 game.

Here is hoping they are placeholders.

I know I'm pretty rough on the screens as well but the engine is set up to use low poly/low texture models until you get closer to the object, that soldier looks like one of the models from W@W when the game didn't load the better model fast enough, in singleplayer of W@W sometimes if you looked really quick you could see a bookshelf go from a big square block with a solid color to the high detailed model.

I'm hoping the screen there of CoD4 is just the game glitching or not loading in the high detailed model.

Just a theory cause it happened in W@W.

EDIT:

Something to support my theory

The terroist at the bottem has very nice textures and looks like it did in CoD4, the ground has nice textres, and so do the walls, but the soldier looks out of place, low poly, low rez, etc.

Call of Duty: FInest Hour on the Gamecube

That's Xbox, not GC.

When using IGN for pics, check the URL.   They used Xbox iamges for almost half of all multiplatform games last generation because of the easy, high quality image capture system.

Maxwel, what's the original source for your image?

Game daily http://www.gamedaily.com/games/call-of-duty-2-big-red-one/gamecube/game-images/list/4410/0/ it says gamecube images.

OK, just did some digging.

Those are actually PS2 screens pulled from a dev kit (originally in 800 x 600 format) and then reduced to PAL size.

To be flat out about it, screen shots on the Internet have very little honesty behind them.  Either they're actually from a different console, they've been skewed, stretched or blown up, compressed, not direct feed, dev kit or something.

It's actually kinda rare that you see screen shots of multiplayer games perfectly labeled, sourced, hosted, captured and all that.  As with your Gamedaily pics, GD simply took the PR images of Big Reed One (which were the PS2 edition from a dev kit) and resized them for PAL and put them inot the various media sections for PS2, GC and Xbox.

Damn those are ugly

The dead terrorist is a bullshot, i think. Look at him: no polygons at all, just a flat image shopped in.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Are those images for real O.o

Oh that looks bad. Maybe it'll look better in motion like most Wii games but geez it doesn't look so hot now.

I'm going to give them a bit more leeway. But honestly, they don't have much time to upgrade the graphics... but do they really need to? This is the Wii after all, defeating everyone's expectations.

That's a great question lol. They are real, it's just it seems Activision revealed an older build of the game. I mean the dead terrorist is obviously photoshopped in. He's a flat texture. He looks like he was just placed in there. And the shooting US soldier looks like he wasn't even completely loaded.

They are real but whoever was in charge with the camera needs to be fired.
