I think NSMB Wii will do similar numbers to Mario Kart Wii.

Similarly multiplayer centric, NSMB Wii is like Mario Kart Wii ... the perfect bridge game for casuals and core players to play together.

I don't think either NSMB Wii or FF13 will top 3 million though. The console business in Japan just isn't big enough anymore.

It all depends

If FFXIII and GT5 release this year, Im sure PS3 can outsell the wii for at least 2 weeks in the holiday season

Final Fantasy XIII will be something very, very big.

Don't forget that PS3 sold 57,000 units with the release of a mere demo, so extrapolating I expect for Final Fantasy XIII release:

PS3 Slim + holidays boost + Final Fantasy XIII (at least a 5 multiplier over the Demo) about 250,000 - 300,000.

Take no (DS and PSP will always be higher also don't count out the wii either), do much better hell ya.

Honestly people here act like Nintendo cannot do anything to stop sony now that the slim is going to be released.

I don't think anyone doubts that ... the question is how long?

If it drops like a rock in January (assuming the game launches in December which isn't even a sure thing yet) ... then its all for naught.

I was waiting for a reply like this. The PS3 could beat the Wii this holiday if Nintendo do absolutely nothing, which means no price cut, no new colours, and no new games. Of course that would never happen. Whenever people get in a weird frenzy like this, they tend to ignore what other systems will do to combat the other. Remember GTAIV week? All the talk about it being the beginning of the end for the Wii, and look what happened. Over 700,000 Wii's were sold, and Mario Kart Wii beat GTAIV on the PS3.

 

Nintendo and Microsoft won't sit by and let Sony drop the price and release a new model. They'll do plenty to combat it.

Fact 1: New Super Mario Bros Wii is able to stand a chance against Final Fantasy in Japan
Fact 2: Sony has core titles that get good ratings and Nintendo has big sellers
Gt5 and Final Fantasy are Head to head with wii fit plus and mario bros wii
