By the sound of things (recent reading on Kotaku and other game websites) they've been letting the old models sell, with no new stock. So the old models are probably close to being sold out anyway.

WOW, so soon! I didn't expect them to start selling the slim 6 days from now. And at $299 Sony has finally hit the sweet spot for consumers. This is excellent news!

Can't wait to learn more about the PS3 slim specs at the official announcement and what new PSN features the 'maintenance' will bring today. Firmware 3.0 perhaps?

Oh and congrats to all future PS3 slim owners!!
