Forums - Sony - If they were to make a Final Fantasy 7 remake...

There have to be a few changes. The story, of course, must always be the same, but the gameplay has a few holes that need to be plugged. Here's the main thing that I think they need to change:

Damage/HP cap - It's very strange that monsters can have up to 1 million HP but only do a maximum of 9999 damage, while characters can only have a maximum of 9999 HP and also deal the same maximum damage, and even more with multiple attacks. Are we saying that these big huge monstrous attacks from WEAPON or Sephiroth can only do up to 9999, when Omnislash can do up to 170,000? It makes monsters seem like super-tough dudes that can't hit hard and characters seem like glass cannons. What if Cloud decided to use Omnislash on his entire team? That would wipe out everyone because each person only has 9999 HP.

My suggestion: make the damage/HP cap to five digits (e.g., 99,999), and balance attack/defense so that characters don't seem like they're so easy to kill and monsters don't seem like weaklings.

Any other changes you'd like to be implemented?

Man, if they were to do this they would have to approach it as a new game, almost entirely, to do it justice and to be on the same or very close to the level of Final Fantasy XIII. Even if the story, characters and gameplay system would be similar, it'd still require to be built from scratch. Add to that they would need to make lots of new cinematics and in-game cutscenes, all of them with spoken dialogue. I wouldn't have it any other way, and to be honest I'd rather have SE spend their time and resources doing something completely new.

Have you played Crisis Core? Something like that?

@ The
You're right!

@bugrimmar
And for that matter, even if this seems unbalanced, the game is very easy to beat when u know ur thing, and even on the first and second playthrough, it's fairly easy to beat. So i don't see why they should change all that. The only real challenges are Ruby and emerald. As "The" was saying, they would have to create the game from scratch and they would have no choice but to do all the testing process again. So i'm not sure it would be a good idea 'cause the remake wouldn't be faithful to the original IMO.

I think they should instead make the game a little more challenging, but that's just how i feel about the idea of a remake ^^

they should make clouds final move learnable at high levels like say 78

I still haven't finished it, but they should make it clearer what you are meant to do, I can't get a chocobo!!! Is there not just a break damage limit and break HP limit materia?
