Forums - PC - Video capture, what to use?

I need to capture video from my older Hi8 video camera and put it on DVDs etc.

I have spent a little time reading and the Pnnacle MovieBox Plus seems like a decent product for a relatively low cost ($80 on newegg).

As with any product, there are reviews where the loved it and others where it didnt' work. I have found this to be many times user error.

So, if any of you do this or simply capture from your game systems, what do you use and/or do you know anything about Pinnacle products?

I just use CamStudio...its free but pretty shoddy quality.

Edit: Never tried a Pinnacle product.

If you are looking for a free one, well I don't know any.

Pinnacle is pretty good from what I have heard.

If you are capturing video-game footage, then try out Xfire's video capture when you are playing games.

Anyone else have any ideas?

btw, free is ok, but I don't mind paying for quality.

LOL, everybody's suggesting screencasting software when you don't seem to be having the hardware.
Anyway, my experience with Pinnacle products is not good, but I've never used them on a decent computer, so I cannot comment on MovieBox. According to Newegg.com it's decent though.

Compro TV card that I have has RF and composite cable input. Not sure if you can get them in the US but mine's worked great for 3 years as a TV card and I've used it to transfer some VHS to hard drive.
