Forums - Nintendo - How about some Red Steel 2 details and hype?

So was this delayed so it could be of better quality? or so WM+ install base is higher, or maybe so it does not compete with any other big game in the holiday season? Maybe all 3?

Anyways I really really wanna play this game. Looks amazing, hope it plays amazing too.

It is difficult to combine swords and guns and I think this game will be 90% sword and 10% gun. I think eliminating most of the gun fighting is a huge mistake because I will not longer consider this game a FPS. I think the developers should have went in the opposite direction and focused on a FPS with the sword used as a melee attack. Shooting the enemy and using the Wiimote plus to finish off opponents in a similar manner to melee found in "The Conduit" or "The Grinder".

Yes it's a mistake because you won't consider it in one particular genre, one which is over crowded as well.

It's a FPS in that it's a first person swordfighting game. How is that bad? It's an innovative game type that you can't get on any other system and will most likely be tons more fun than if they had focused on the shooting aspect instead of the sword fighting aspect.

I think it's going to turn out to be a great game, as long as people don't assume its going to be the typical FPS with online multiplayer and stuff. It just looks like a cross between metroid prime and a regular FPS.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

If it does sword fighting well, it will be the game that I bought my Wii for in the first place :)

I LOVE ICELAND!

I saw the gameplay videosa while ago and the fighting looks awesome, i think is has a good amount of shooting, some enemies can´t be killed with swords after all, but sometimes is jsut easiero to tear the enemy apart and the shoot them in the face

That's just the half that has been updated. If you click the link, Vandenberghe has a lot of other interesting things to say about the importance of 60FPS (I could hug him, even though he looks like a dirty biker), the thinking behind that kickass intro sequence... tons more.

I'm not sure why so many people are allowing the first Red Steel to cloud their judgement of this game. A sword, a gun, and a Wii are about the only things the two games have in common. The gameplay is new, the character is new, the art is new, the engine is new.

Must be a bummer to be so skeptical all the time.

Will this sword have 1:1 motion control?

Exactly why it should not be called Red Steel 2,it has nothing to do with the first (not even blood which the title of the first was implying) So if it has NOTHING to do with the first why connect the two with the title.

No one better try the "sold 1 million" argument because well I helped sell the wii and red steel at launch, only reason it sold but that game and far cry were the most returned/Traded in games. Had so many we had to ship extras to other stores and we still had ten or more in the drawer and 6 on the shelf of a used game.  Everytime someone bought it used it came back the next day.

Sometime later Ubi made a public apology for Red Steel and far Cry...then gave us PetZ and Z games.

Ubisoft is marketing this similar to the first with bullshot trailers and such and giving many promises.

I have a hard time trusting what they say,but as I said in the other post I WANT this to be good and this time hope it holds up.

The concept is awesome.

Mmmm.. the first one isnt that bad, and this one looks a hundred times better
