Forums - Sony - LittleBigPlanet is one of the greatest games ever

The multiplayer is where it's at. I'll add your new ID. We should definitely play together some time.

I can also help you get 100% of all items. I'm actually working on them myself, as I lost everything when my ps3 died. =/

Edit:

And LBP is my favorite game this gen, clocking in at #5 on my all time list, behind the 3D console Zeldasm and just ahead of Okami.  In basic platforming, there are better games out there, but LBP's mix of platforming, hilarious (and cheap) deaths at the hands of friends, and insane replayability with all the crazy user levels makes it a winner in my book.  I've played this game far more than any other game released this gen (possibly ever, depending on how much I played Age of Mythology and Mario Kart 64 back in the day).  Playing with friends online just can't be beat.

Dude, you are my hero. MK64 and AoM are two of my favorite games ever! I still play both of them, to be honest.

OT: I completely agree. LBP is also one of my favorite games. I've spent more time with LBP than most other games of any console generation. The level creator is a blast to mess around with when you're playing with friends, the levels that came with the game are entertaining, the community levels are just incredible (people have a ton of time on their hands!), and I can't tell you how fun it is for me to just run around and slap people/ stick random stickers everywhere. Plus, the music in this game is really fun and catchy. LBP is pretty much the perfect game for people who just want to have fun.

i loved this game. at first i though it was terrible, but it grew on me so much. was fun platinuming it.

LBP is boring at first I must admit, but when I went back to it dare I say I found it better than Super mario world.

That's quite a recommendation. Few games ever are better than SMW.

That said, with SMW, I don't think many people had to go back to it, to appreciate its greatness.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Can we not compare LittleBigPlanet to fuckin' Mario games from over a decade ago?

I said it's one of the greatest games of all time. I said that because it's a great game. Hell, it could be one of the hundred greatest games of all time, doesn't mean it's as good as *insert highly acclaimed Mario game here*.

So you question people calling a game great when they're in the middle of playing it, or if they have to come back to it.  So is a game's greatness only legitimate if you decide this directly after finishing the game?

...

There are only a couple games in my life that I found fun on my first sit down with, and I didn't have to come back to.

The most recent one is Gears 2, and there have been only a couple before that. I didn't like my favorite game of all time when I first started playing it, but I started liking it by my third sit down. Actually, I'm not sure what the definition of "sit down" is supposed to be here. Ahh, whatever. You're still wrong Zenfoldor.

it's a great PS3 game.

Not one of the best games ever.

I respectfully disagree

This is one of those moments where you should give a reason.

Maybe not one of the greatest games ever, but I'm damn giddy on Meerkat Bounce.

The platforming physics feel way off.

In my opinion... games like Super Mario Brothers 3 controlled more fluidly.

Seemed very.... simple as far as mechanics went.

Also the level design is done in... well a really backwords messed up way.

I end up pulling out my NES anytime i feel like platforming.  Or MM9.

LBP is actually the only game a regret buying this generation.... which...  I've maybe regretting less then 10 games total.

A lot of them are actually "Create content" games.  Like "Fighter Maker" and two versions of RPG maker.
