Why are you so upset about this?

I have a Wii and have played the most popular games on it so far..

Now Im looking foward to get New Super Mario Wii, Metroid M ..etc

But until now I use my Wii pretty much to Youtube from my couch ...

That said, There's a reason Nintendo haven't released the specs for the Wii, If the Wii is all about gameplay and fun why be so conservative with the specs.. Are they ashamed to do so?

Release the specs and you can still stick with "is all about gamplay and fun" and move on..

Its not confirmed the -Wii is equal or more powerful than the Xbox ..

The Xbox wasn't max out in its life span, so there's no way the Wii can do more

It more said the Wii is like Gamecube with added ram and speed.

To avoid all this controversy that Nintendo has created they should release the Wii specs, why is it so hard.

I can see here the Wii can closely match the Xbox. but, I dont think the Xbox was being max out with those graphics ..

We will never know what the Xbox was capable of when it never was pushed to its limits..

So the question is, can the Wii perform something that the Xbox will struggle with because of hardware limitation?  if so the Wii will be more powerful.

My point, while the Xbox being max out can the Wii do that and more with ease?

Conclusion: imo the Wii while pushing its hardware to its peek can only match what the Xbox can do in moderation..

Because specs are not comparable variables.   A 729 Mhz copper PowerPC CPU is much faster than a 733 Mhz aluminum Intel Celeron.

64 MB GDDR3 + 24 MB 1t-SRAM is much more capable than 64 MB of DDR SDRAM.  And so on.

 

It's not the numbers themselves that make the Wii stronger, it's the architecture and design.  So releasing the specs would be pointless to 99% of gamers who have little understanding of the numbers in thier context and would only take them at face value.

 

Did you just claim that Xbox was never pushed to its peak in the 5 years of shelf life but that Wii has already been pushed to its limit despite less than 3 years of shelf life?

So why not release the specs for that 1% of gamers that would like to know?

The ps2 was the weakest last gen and was catered to all type of gamers, especially the casual and outta the 120k maybe more than 97% of the userbase didn't care about the numbers of the PS2, still Sony released the specs for the tech-savvys out there.

So if you want to compare the Ps2 with the PS3 you can, and you can see the big leap Sony made from Ps2 to PS3..

Now, you can't say the same when comparing the GC with the Wii,   GC= CPU+RAM+GPU       Wii= ???? why? what's the big secret.

I don't know much about breaking down numbers and calculation and stuff but I always like to learn and know the specs.

Now, why the specs are not comparable comparing the Wii with Xbox, when last gen they were comparing the Gamecube with the Xbox and its architectures.

 What have changed with the Wii that can't be compared with the Xbox straight up now when the GC and XBOX were being compared last gen and the Xbox won the upper hand.

I didn't "claim" the Xbox was never pushed to its peak, but the images shown above was not what the Xbox was only capable of, -I said while the Wii is closely matching what the Xbox did with ease it putting a strain on the Wii's hardware..

If the Ps2 squeezed out GOW2 graphics.

The Game Cube squeezed RE4 graphics.

The Xbox with Riddick, Doom 3, Halo2 and all the stuff that went on screen at the same time,

I think if the Xbox had a longer shelf life we would've seen the last drop of what it was capable of..

The Xbox and GC spesc were not comparable.  That's why Nintendo, IBM and ATi won't release specs.

Last generation, Sony claimed the PS2 could do 66 million polygons per second while MS stated the Xbox could do over 100 million per second.  Nintendo comes out and says 6-12 million polygons per second.  Why the big difference?  Because Nintendo calculated the figure with A.I., mutitexture layers, lighting and graphical effects while the other two counted raw wire frame polygons only.  Gamers and media all ran with it that GC was considerably weaker than the other 2.  Only a small percentage of people understood the reality and had to debate endlessly with gamers to get them to understand this.

 

As for your last point, how exactly do you know the Xbox did those games with ease and how do you know it would strain the Wii hardware?  On what grounds do you make this claim?

For the ghostbusters guy asking, my assumption is that Nintendo decided not to guy high specs like Microsoft and Sony and took a gamble and focused on motion based gameplay. They weren't in the best situation in the gaming market with rumors that they were thinking of leaving the gaming industry all together before the announcement of the "revolution".

They took the low specs in order to produce a system that would generate profit from day 1, and be accessible to the consumers seeking the console. Now im sure you people forgot this, but during E3 2005? Nintendo announced they were going to show people some of the best graphics ever possible on the Wii.. this was back when it was the revolution and the controller had yet to be revealed. So clearly there strategy changed from 2005 and on.. Sony simply failed to capture a significant market with the PS3 (atleast compared to wii) because of there price.. and they did the exact opposite nintendo did, relase a console at a loss from day 1, and at a price were consumers could not pay.
