I'm glad most developers aren't like them. Overpriced aditional content instead of regular expansion packs and the worst AI since.. Doom.. 1

wow, first of all, nice job on reading the OP. second of all, have you even played their games? The AI is incredible. The town people walk around and actively engage in conversations or jobs. enemies will crouch or get in cover. I don't see how that can possibly be a legitimate complaint of a Bethesda game.

I did read it. And yes I have. Their AI is some of the worst of any game. Sure they walk around in patterns and blurb out random sentences or have "conversations" one of 5 total that consist of what might look like conversations, but that doesn't change the fact that the ai is dumb as fuck. Oblivion has some of the most lifeless AI i've seen in any game. They work more to ruin the immersion than increase it.

Another annoying thing is that if you do a "crime" somewhere, everyone in the rest of the world will know.

I couldn't be arsed to finish it either because the game really didn't give me a lot of will to do so.. it got very boring after a while.. But this is just my opinion, and that's not because I don't like open world games.. in my opinion all games need to give you a drive.. oblivion doesn't give you that at all.

I respect the fact that you don't like the games, because no game is for everybody.  However, I would challenge you to think of an open world game that has better AI than Bethesda's games.

He is right. Oblivioin was pretty bad. I couldn't finish the game either. And don't start me on the fact how broken it was. I went through the ENTIRE arena the moment i stepped out of the dungeon. I couldnt get past the first town, absolutely no incntive to do so.

lol of course you did because you played it on easy.

The easiest difficulty level increases your damage to 16 times the default damage, and reduces enemy damage to 1/16 of the damage they have on medium difficulty.

But you can not beat the Arena from the start if you run it on medium difficulty or higher.

It was on medium and all I had to do was strafe and heal myself in case i get hit. I did die a few times but wasting enough time I did end up doing it. Only then did I learn I can beat the champion more easily by doing his quests.

if it were up to me, I would pick Bioware as the RPG company I'd want there to be more of...

I agree as far as making the better RPG's.  However, Bioware sucks at supporting their games post launch with DLC.  I'm hoping that dragon age will change that, they are at least talking about it a lot more.

The reason I want developers to be more like Bethesda is that Bethesda is awesome at releasing lots of quality DLC for their games post launch.  Basically expanding their huge games even more.

Bioware is one of the most amazing companies around for game support.  Neverwinter Nights is a good example.

Free Content:  In the free patches that you were still receiving periodically 5 years after the game's launch, they were still adding new things to the campaigns, the toolset, and other parts.  In one of the last patches, they added a whole new playable class to the game.  For free.

Paid Content:  Neverwinter Nights has had 3 expansion packs (all worth the price) and 6 very nice premium modules each which function as full campaigns/stories.

Support:  Bioware continues to support Neverwinter Nights to this day if not in patches then in spirit.  If you go to the BioBoards (one of my favorite developer forums), you will still find not only their community manager Jay posting but also their programmers posting in the NWN section.

Bioware provides quality support, not gouging customer for cash like some other companies.

Bungie does great.

Thats true that Bioware did amazing with Neverwinter nights, but which of their other games did they support post launch?  Baldurs gate got one expansion, Kotot got a stupid DLC that gave you a new shop (can't really complain though, it was free), Jade Empire had nothing, Mass Effect had one DLC in bringing down the sky.

One game doesn't make a company amazing at post launch support.  All though, from what I'm hearing Dragon's Age: Origins is going to have tons of support, which is one of the reasons I foam at the mouth at the mere mention of that game.

Baldur's Gate had an expansion then a sequel which continued the story with a revamped system and then an expansion after that.

KotOR and Jade Empire were both on the original Xbox as well as the PC so there should have been no expectations of anything special on those titles just as there should be no expectations of their Sonic Chronicles DS game.

Mass Effect has a sequel coming.  If you hadn't noticed from the 2 expansions for the Baldur's Gate games and the 3 expansions for Neverwinter Nights, Bioware prefers to offer large scale "extras" versus smaller extras.  You're more likely to get a full blown sequel or an expansion than a cheap $2-$10 DLC pack.

Yes, I know Bioware makes sequels and keeps their series going, one of the reasons I love em.  However, don't you think it would be nice if they could do both?  I mean, look at the fallout franchise.  Bethesda has kept a steady stream of large value priced DLC coming since the game has been released.  Basically making sure that fallout 3 disc never gets very far from my system.  Then they have obsidian making a full new fallout game next year.

Basically, they keep me going with a steady stream of content.  Imagine if Bioware did that with mass effect.  Just because a develeper is making sequels to their games doesn't mean they can't make DLC for the games that are out.  The whole point of this thread is just me wishing that other developers were as good as Bethesda at releasing DLC at good prices.  Bethesda has made 2 games this generation and supported both heavily with DLC.

Hopefully, now that Bioware is part of EA they can afford to focus on creating new games while at the same time supporting the games they release with quality DLC post launch.
