LOL! Sony doesn't own the rights to that song, as far as I know.

I'm not really sure, but I think they do with Columbia Records...

^^ holy mother of god the damage control has gotten outta hand since I last came into this thread. People, the whole damn world knows that this is LBP's main theme. I think this was the theme they used in the very first trailer I ever saw of the game. Even if only 2 people bought LBP, I guarantee you one of them would have been the household of Bill Gates. People from MS clearly knew that this was the theme from LBP and used it intentionally. Companies copy each other all the time, and MS did it this time. You don't have to come into this thread and defend your mother company like you actually have a stake in any of this.

It only seems like ridiculous damage control to you because sony fanboys like yourself are oversensationalizing the situation.

See what I'm talking about?

Neither do you, and posts like yours aren't helping matters any.  You're only trying to rile people up with your inflammatory language.

@topic:  If sony owns the rights to the song then MS paid them and nothing was stolen so the whole premise of the thread is false.  As for the free advertising, the only people who will connect the song in the commercial with LBP are the people who already own it.  There will be no discernible impact on sales.

1. I am not oversensationalizing the situation. All I said was that this was a sad attempt by MS to use last years GOTY for their own advantage. That's exactly what this is.

2. I guess you blew the word "world" out of proportion so let me break it down so it can't be taken the wrong way: The entire gaming community knows that this is LBP's main theme.

3. No, I have absolutley no stake in any of this, which is why it is extremely easy for me to spot when a company blatantly copies another one. For instance, Sony was just as pathetic when they used Zelda music. MS and Sony are both pathetic for stealing motion control ideas from Nintendo and pretending to do it better. See? Not hard. When you really don't give a shit about multi-billion dollar corporations, you have a very easy time badmouthing them.

@Seece - Why would I tone anything down? I have said absolutely nothing insulting to anyone. Most the entire gaming community can identify this track with Little Big Planet. It's as simple as that. If you want me to tone my posts down, make some non-refutable arguments against them. I still don't see where you said "MS did not steal this track knowing that it was the LBP tune". Chances are, you agree with me about what I am saying: MS used the song knowing it was the main tune to LBP.

Here's a quote from my earlier post "And guys, don't worry, companies copy each other a lot". Meaning there is no problem with this. It happens all the time (look at Coke vs. Pepsi, Apple vs. MS, and if you are in Canada Bell vs. Rogers). It especially happens with tunes like this that are not owned by either one of the companies.  I just don't understand why the 360 guys have to come in here and full on deny or defend the fact that MS knowingly took something. Many people have resorted to pointing out the fact that Sony stole the Zelda tune for one of their presentations. This shows that Sony is just as pathetic as MS when it comes to this stuff. What I am basically seeing here is this: It's good to point out and make fun of Sony when they do something ridiculous like this, but if MS does it, we have to shut our mouth about it and pretend like they didn't.

Now, let's look at my sig. Which part is getting really annoying? The on running PS3 is the future now Believe joke? The part where I say MS and Sony are sad for implementing motion controls (which they both bashed nintendo for) three years after launching their consoles? The part where MS promised 360 would last 1 day longer than PS3 then the MS CEO confirmed a New Box for 2010? The bet that I have (can't see how I can lose the 1 million part) with Stage about my most loved video game franchise? Or the other bet where I say the multiplatform Final Fantasy will do better than the exclusive?

You make a claim that the entire world knows something, and I'm the one blowing things out of proportion?  That's pretty rich dude -  I think you need to go outside and gain some perspective on the world and how it works.  A minority of people in the world plays current gen video games,  a small minority of those people bother to discuss them on the internet, and a small minority of those would have immediatley recognized that song as having been used in Little Big Planet.

As for your second point that MS knowingly took something from LBP to spite sony, did you ever stop to think that maybe the marketing person in charge of that one commercial (hint: Just because Bill Gates may have played LBP doesn't mean that the marketing people have.)  just liked that song and thought it would be good in a commercial without having played LBP.  Some songs are in more movies than I can count yet I don't hear you complaining about those.

All you people are way to quick to cry foul at any and every little thing that Microsoft does.  Grow up, it's really getting old.

Let me rephrase that... Sony Entertainment didn't commission someone to write that song for LBP.  Yes, it's going to rub some people the wrong way because MS is using it for something else, but you could also just as easily take it as a form of flattery... MS is acknowledging that the song picked for LBP was a good one.

I'm starting to get the feeling that PS3 fans are a little touchy about everything regarding consoles.

This thread is pathetic.

^^ You win

This thread is not pathetic, clearly it is very impotant, notice how its already on page 9 (atleast for me)
