Forums - Sales - Well well well it seems as though Wii has already reached 50% marketshare

WOW ioi I will be embarrassed on VGChartz? I can live with that and would simply like an answer. People believing VGChartz numbers over Chart Track etc now that is embarrassing. Also ioi has been beaten in sales arguements....you know ioi was once a NeoGaf member correct?

Didn't you mention that you were a puppet for GAF? Why are you here, really?

NPD tracks the U.S. only, that leaves Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America out of the mix. Canada is already a couple million consoles, and the others definitely add to the total.

Both Vgchartz and the Japanese tracking services track Japan.

For the rest of the world, do you really think Chart Track is even close to tracking the whole world? All of Europe has 830 million people (including Russia). Add in the U.S. (300 million) and Japan (130 million), and you have 1.26 billion people. That leaves you with an easy 5.7 billion or so. You really think that there couldn't be a couple million consoles sold between them? I don't know the specifics, but I don't pretend to know. You are like a bunch of other people who have trolled this site, thinking that they know better because of one press release, and ultimately being proven wrong (while scurrying away afterwords).

If the Wii had really reached 50% marketshare, don't you think Nintendo would have announced that? Why Activision and not Nintendo? Oh wait, it doesn't have to make sense.

you came to the man's site to talk shit, well done.

your numbersare imcomplete and quite easy to prove it.

53 million wiis shipped, but your numbers shows 40 million install base which makes no sense.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you should just go back to Neogaf instead of trying to spread FUD here.

VGChartz numbers = NPD numbers + Chart Track/GfK numbers + numbers for other regions not tracked by those firms or represented in the Activision report. Since the Wii hasn't even launched in most of those "other" regions, it absolutely makes sense that PS3/360 are, combined, outselling it heavily there.

No I cannot recall saying I was a "puppet" for GAF, please do search for the post where I said such a thing. I am here because I wish to talk about games and sales, something wrong with that? No I do not trust numbers posted on this website but I do like to discuss sales with other members. That would be the reason I am here, feel free to give me a perma-ban if you wish because I do not believe sales posted on VGChartz.

NPD is huge and if they do not track sales in Canada I seriously doubt a couple people on this website can give accurate sales. As I said before I find it extremely hard to believe that 3.4 million Wii's and somehow 7.2 million PS360's have been sold in regions not tracked by the biggest sales trackers in the world.

Oh I'm sure people have discussed sales on this site and left for good after that but I seriously doubt it is for the reason for you stated.

Oh well, there's no reason for me to argue. You're simultaneously getting proven wrong by a number of people who actually know what they're talking about.

*Bans you*

Going by your numbers, there are about 4 million PS3's on store shelves.

Can you explain how that is possible?

@RPG - You're in a failing argument, and you haven't responded to your errors that you've made. You're best just calling it a day ;)

Yes sadly it's very hard for me to win an argument refuting VGChartz numbers on VGChartz. I don't know how many consoles are said to be on shelves and am sure no one here does. Should there only be 2 or so million PS3's on shelves because 4 million is some how impossible?

Honest question, no idea how anyone could know how many consoles should be on shelves to make sense.

You really can't think of a reason why companies like GFK don't track Central and Eastern Europe, South Korea etc RPG? Those markets only became significant very recently. NPD, Chart Track and the other guys do not track everything. The "world markets" report that NPD, Chart Track and Media Create release every month covers 60% of world data by their own admission and thats with Western Europe, the United States and Japan.

There are no monthly figures for the USA or Japanese video game markets from before the late 1980s, and those markets have been established for videogames since the Atari hey-day of the 1970s. It takes a long time before companies track developing markets as you don't want to put in time and research to develop a tracking methodology and then have the market vanish. Digital distribution is a good example nowadays on the three systems - there is yet to be an established tracker for Wii Ware, Xbox Live, PSN etc.

the numbers don't claim to be complete even by the people that compiled them. These are numbers done by the well known reliable trackers in the biggest markets in the world. It is missing asian countries outside of Japan, South America, Africa, and many eastern european countries.
The one thing about the countries that are not on the list is that most of them are pirate heavy countries.
