Sadly it seems as though some clarification is needed. Activision Blizzard gave out these numbers for NA + EU while the Japan numbers are already known. Adding those together the Wii has reached 50% marketshare.

Japan is DEFINATELY not the best country in the world.

I don't know what the second bunch of numbers is about, but he's tryng to point out that the Wii has 50% home console marketshare, in Japan, if you don't count the PS2, I think.  Not by a ton, but it has it.

And... leaving out the PS2 in Japan is kind of pushing it, but...

The numbers in the OP show that it has reached 50% marketshare however this not the case with the numbers from VGChartz.

WW the Wii has got over 50% marketshare MEANING it has more units sold than the PS3 + 360 combined. No idea why people are mentioning PS2 when it is a console from last generation. Having a bit of a mind fuck here. :/

I am still curious to what will happen when the Wii reaches 50% of the market share that 48% can't do?
