Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft and their dang hardware!

My PS2 has been going for 6 years and it had a disc reading problem. I cleaned the diode and it runs fine. Only thing that has broken on me in the Nintendo DS touch screen and on another model, L & R dont function.

Alright so what I gather is Sony and Microsoft both suck at making hardware?

For me I've owned every Sony console and every Nintendo console and many other consoles and only my 360 has fried. Though as some pointed out I am getting it fixed by Microsoft. However it was a biotch to get the console repaired. Wasted two hours on the website before I finally gave up and phoned Microsoft directly. Apparently the Canadian branch of X-Box.com was not working properly so she helped me over the phone.

But I don't know a single 360 owner who hasn't had to send their unit in for repairs. All of them RROD'd one friend of mine has had his fixed 3 times. I remember Microsoft announced the Falcon Chip was supposed to be the fix for the RROD. So I bought an Elite thinking it wouldn't Red Ring and sure enough it Red Ringed anyways!

The 360 is perhaps the worst hardware made to date, my first console to fail thats why I'm so pissed

My friend dropped his original Xbox down the stairs and it still worked. I thought the Original Xbox was pretty damn good as far as reliability goes.

orig xbox was solid machine

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I had 3 PS2's break on me, 1 NES break on me, 1 SEGA Game Gear break on me.....Microsoft is not the only one who has had issues with consoles.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

Sony´s console weren´t great either. My PS1 must be turned upside down for playing. If I don´t do this, nothing.

For PS2, I´m currently on third. DRE in both cases.

So yelling on MS only is a little unfair.

I should mention at this point that I've left my PS2 (original phat one) on for a week at a time, with a game running, and it's never so much as become warm.

The 360 definitely has issues.

The original Xbox was solid, I have a couple of them modded that I use as media centers. They can run for days without any problem. The only problems the first Xbox had was an early DVD drive by Thompson (RCA) that would sometimes scratch discs and give Dirty Disc errors. Also, one of their vendors had a crappy power supply that could cause serious problems but you had to be pretty abusive to break it.

The early PS1 and PS2 systems were absolute garbage, so I don't understand how people let Sony off the hook so easily. PS1 systems would overheat after less than 1 hour of use, they had Disc read problems and a video chip that would burn out after a certain amount of usage. Basically after a while no Full Motion Video would work at all.

PS2 was a little better, but a huge percentage of them had Disc reading problems. PS2 was probably the worst system until the 360 came along. PSP also had a few problems like dead pixels, cheap flimsy analog nubs that would break, and unusable square buttons. PS3 is the first solid system they have built.

The only Nintendo system I have had any trouble with was the original NES. It was very well built, but the pin connectors that read the cartridges would bend and corrode and would make it nearly impossible to play any cartridge. It's easy to fix and the part costs less than $10.

dead pixels have to all LCD from ALL Brands but going the cheapest its certain u will get them, my zune 80gb have tons of blue spot in a month of ownership.

Yeah you are right about the dead pixels, but many early PSP systems had an unacceptable amount. Anywhere from 10 to 20, that is way too much.

Well I have had my original fat ps1 for 8 years now and still working It broke once mainly my fault because I messed with the lense then I have a ps2 slim for 4 years now still working fine and lastly my first lunched 60gb ps3 which broke on me few months ago but is now fixed and working like a brand new.
