Forums - Sony - IGN: Fat Princess Review.

8.5 Presentation
The game has style in spades with the "Why I'm Awesome" screen and "Baby Got Back" playing over the credits, but wonky ranks and the lack of password-protected rooms hurt.
9.0 Graphics
The world is bright and beautiful, the blood is plentiful, and the dismembered hands and feet are hilarious.
9.0 Sound
The distinguished-sounding Brit giving you play-by-play ("They're in our base killing our dudes!") is great and I dig that that the princess' voice gets more disgusting as she grows.
9.0 Gameplay
You can switch hats -- and thus classes -- on the fly so you should be able to find a play style to suit you, but the game will really open up when you start combing efforts and working as a team.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
As everyone gets better at the game, the matches are only going to get more intense. It's going to take time to master every map and know everything backward and forward.

Fat Princess Review

  • GameSpot Score 7.5 good

This silly twist on capture-the-flag is as funny as it is strategic, but balance issues keep it from greatness.

The Good

  • Combat is fast, exciting, and bloody
  • The best maps have lots of secret passages
  • Chicken potions and giant bombs are loads of fun
  • Planning and executing attacks is satisfying.

The Bad

  • Some maps are prone to stalemates
  • Slight imbalance in character classes
  • Connectivity issues.

So far I've been reluctant to dive into downloading PSN and XBLA games as I barely have enough cash for big hits.. but with releases like Fat Princess, Shadow Complex, and 'Splosion Man I may not be able to hold off any longer.

This game looks fantastic. It's charming and brutal at the same time and the gameplay is a very very unique variant of capture the flag that's sure to get devs thinking of new ways to implement more traditional game modes.

Well deserved score.

looks good. i still want burn zombie burn though. PSN cards cant fucking wait

Forget retail, IMO. Downloadables are where it's at this gen!

Great score. I agree!

I blame Sony. If only they had bought some ad space, Tom McShea would be looking for a new job right now.
