oversimplification? i am only reporting the facts there? no?

To be fair though, it's not like he just said that the SPUs are a godsend and left it at that. After he made the statement he then explained how and why the SPU's are a godsend.

You say that you are only reporting the facts and yet you seem to have a pattern of looking at all things Sony in a negative and cynical way. I wonder why that is.

I honestly don't understand how this is not good news. They found a way to use the SPU's to get good results. Wipeout HD is an impressive game technically. Just because they work for sony doesn't make their statements false.

This is good news, nobody doubts that.

But i read some of the posts and not everyone seems to think so (or believe them).

Well I'm not much into the tech stuff but he appears to explain himself as to why he thinks so. So unless he is talking nonsense ( you guys would probably be a better judge) then it doesn't really matter where he works. the SPU's helped them achieve what they wanted

Nice to see so many taking comments out of context. Read the full Digital Foundry interview. It's a technical interview, as you'd expect with DF, and at one point the developer - giving full and clear reasons why - speak positively about using SPUs in combination with the GPU in the PS3.

I see no evidence of the usual, bland - it's great 'cause we develop for it' in the full interview. Just factual, technical discussion.

Still, before someone accuses me of being biased, let me comment that the article also makes clear the challenges posed by the PS3 architecture for multiplatform design - and while there is no doubt some developers, I'm sure for cost vs 'lazy' reasons - are not making the required effort to produce code that doesn't just rely on the PS3 GPU, but also uses the SPUs as well, others clearly are ramping up, and no one should forget that whichever way you cut it the very different architectures of PS3 / 360 do impact the ease with which multiplatform titles can be produced.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

But Psygnosis Sony Liverpool is an old fashioned developer. Wipeout isnt cutting edge graphics anymore and the franchise is almost completely forgotten.

have you heard of Wipeout HD?

its the best looking Downloadable game , and its even better looking than most disk releases.

In other news, Retro studios says the Wii architecture is "really good", and Rare Software says The Xenos "is a godsend".

feel better now ?

No, one more:

Valve says Steam is a "great system for distributing games".

you forgot SEGA

"The Conduit and Madworld sales are great, Wii is a valuable platform for Hardcore titles"

You have kowenecki pegged all wrong. Just from a quick post history check, 46 of his last 50 posts were in the Sony forum or the Sales forum about Sony (pearljammer = stalker, confirmed) and I'd be willing to be most of them were positive in nature about Sony

I mean, who would honestly spend that much time discussing something they dislike?

Anyhow, on topic: I pretty much agree with Reasonable. It's silly to just disregard what they say simply because they are employees of the company. It has to be read in context.
