It is sold to consumers, just Sony's consumers, which are the retailers

And LTD WW SW sales 142,902,448 according to VGC. So there are 190m sold by Sony (which would include stock), but there must be many millions of PSN games sold, but of course there is probably some undertracking, like how Uncharted is at 2.5m, despite being announced as having sold over 2.6m at E3... but oh well

100K is totally reasonable amount to be on store shelves don't ya think ?

Not for a game selling 5k a week, and this was 2 months ago, so it was more like 150k, which would be enough to keep these stores supplied for 30 weeks

but the game is still being bundled in NA and EU so really 100K deference is pretty much right on the money tbh.

Then why is it selling 5k a week if it is being bundled? Given that VGC tracks bundles

Munkeh,

Which top 200 chart is Uncharted been in lately? (NA, EU)

I dunno, but looking at the PS3 worldwide charts, it is 49th

because it's a premium bundle in NA and not the only bundle in EU. but being the fact that it's bundled you have to keep more stock of the game than non bundled ones and like I said it's 100k difference Worldwide it's really reasonable and usual amount for shipped VS sold.

I've had enough of this SDF type stuff. If you think Kotaku is right and VGChartz is wrong, wth are you still here? Please leave, troll.

Mods, please lock this thread.

Want some kleenexes to clean up the saliva from all that foaming at the mouth?

In case you didn't follow the thread, and you probably didn't, we had a discussion and I learned one or two things. It was worth it.

Don't like me, the console I own or the fact that I defend it? Your problem, boohoo.

Yeah sales to consumers is what ultimately matters.

And of course we know, the amount of units retailers bought will be resold to consumers.

PS3 boxes are bigger than for the other consoles, so takes more storage per same amounts of consoles. Thus IMO it makes sense for retailers to either sell them quickly or order relatively few to bring down storage costs.

So in any case the PS3 has or will soon easily outsell the second best sold console of the previous console generation.

PS3 vs 360 sales

I find it funny, that Vgchartz cant admit, that they are wrong
yes the ps3 is undertracked and yes the psp is also undertracked
there cant be so many ps3s/psps on storeshelves...

Yes, that's what makes sense NJ5. However, sales to consumers is of maximum interest to them as well, since without consumers buying, you wouldn't be selling to retailers.

But I get it, estimates of what they sold to consumers cannot be a part of financial reports, even if they're mostly accurates ones.

Yeah sales to consumers is what ultimately matters.

Incorrect, the only numbers that will matter will be "shipped to retail" as reported in yearly statements. Shipped to consumers are only tracked well in developed countries, however, the PS2 and to some extend the PS3 are selling well in developing nations. The only way to account for these is through quarterly statements.

Oh, and the PS2 numbers appear way way undertracked in here.

Shipped to retail has to follow consumer purchases... if consumers don't buy enough, you'll ship less in future months.

So the PS2 was in a different market, just like the Wii is.

A little typo, second best sold. But of course that was rather obvious as we know the second best sold games console last gen shipped 24 million units.

It remains to be seen if the PS3 can top the PS2 regarding life time sales at some point. But handily beating XBox and GameCube lifetime sales is already a given.
