Forums - Nintendo - Where is Smash Bros on the VC?

This is when I get upset with Nintendo. They have products ready to ship but choose to always with hold them till the timing is perfect. Yes it is perhaps the most basic and smart buisness move the company can make. But it leaves us gamers always waiting for the timing when the competition is weakest.

Nintendo Of America will release SmashBros likely when sales of VC games start to falter or when a huge title hits XBLA and Nintendo needs something to counter it with.

Nintendo is all about the strategizing. They won't release something untill they know the market is ready!

This needs to come out in the U.S. soon.

Are you sure? I think nobody needs this game. I bought it and think it is a really bad game nowadays.

I was really disappointed. I can remember how much fun it was in the glory N64 time, but when you have Brawl or Melee you really don't need it.

It was also a bad game back then, but maybe I am a little bit biased.

The controls are really slow and unresponsive compared to Melee and Brawl. There is really no reason to play the original SSB when there are far superior sequels that are better in every aspect. Well, you could play it for nostalgia's sake, realize how bad it is and play Brawl again.

So I basically agree with you, except for your statement that implies that the original game was good when it came out.

great sequals+ ageing= a really bad game cofirmed

I tried it with three of my friends and my bro on a hacked Wii, we had hours of fun. We pulled out combos we never thought was possible at the time, and we compared all the characters/mechanics/stages from back then to now (where is my Hyrule Castle Ninty?!). It was a very interesting evening, and we had a better time playing this than any other games that same night.

Nostalgia can do you anything man. Isn't that the point of Virtual Console anyways?

If I follow your logic: F-Zero GX > F-Zero X? We all know F-Zero GX had more features and has better gameplay mechanics, so there's no questioning there! ;)

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

at the 2 people that were saying no one needs SSB:

I need SSB! I've never played it before. and I'm sure I will love it. Much cheaper than buying an N64, 2 controllers and the game.

F-Zero GX had terrible controls compared to X though... the entire set of ships seemed to have been made with less grip so that you had to make one of your own (terrible looking things)

F-Zero GX also lost one of the greatest bits of X, even if it was incredibly simple, the Death Race was awesome, in fact it could be because it was incredibly simple... as the equivalent in GX was the silly twisty course where you have to down 30 of Michael Chain (I think that's the right character) look-a-likes

Apart from the stadard ship controls, and the lack of the old death race and the track set is perhaps a little below F-Zero X too, then GX is the better game.... unfortunately it is only the better game where it counts less.

I have a feeling it'll come out on Labor Day. Anyone else think so too?

Why do you say that?

I don't know. It's the next holiday. I might be right. I might be wrong. We don't know yet. But I hope it comes out on Labor Day, which will be September 7th.

Probably waiting for a milestone or something.

I'd have expected it to come out just before Brawl. Didn't they do that in Japan?
