Forums - Gaming - modern warfare 2 will sell 25 million copies

Modern Warfare 2 will not sell 25 million copies. PC owners will torrent the game. The game will sell 10-13 million copies between the PS3 and 360 and PC. My friend who takes games off torrents got Street Fighter IV the other day and said the game is going to sell like shit on PC. I would give PC 1-3 million in sales at the most.

Yeah MW sold around 1.8 million, maybe 2.2 max on PC. (NPD: 900k in US / Japan probably NONE :D / Others around 1 million probably) This won't change this time, at least not that big.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Lol!  Only Shio would spend an hour typing up a useless novel of a paragragh trying to prove something, but utimately failing at it.

The difference between us is that atleast I tell my rationale behind my opinions, while you prefer to not counter-argue and decide to hide behind the classical "lol'ing" of the weaklings who are either afraid or can't back up their own opinions.

I already said what I needed to say.  I was just laughing at your epic fail of a post.  Face it Shio MW did not sell 8 million on the PC and you damn well know it. So stop with the bullshit.  You really try way, way to hard.  And I don't care about anything enough to write as big of a post as you did.

For those that keep mentioning the 10 million and 13 million figures: Activision ALWAYS uses NPD, Charttrack and GFK to track their retail sales. The problem is that NPD, Charttrack and GFK only track a handful of countries, leaving out dozens of PC-centric countries and Digital distribution sales. You guys seriously NEED to look at the calculations I made for the 7 million figure, which I estimated that PC sold atleast 2 million of those 7 millions copies that Actvision had tracked, and it didn't even count the dozens of PC-centric countries and digital sales!

Hell, Activision even mention on their Financial reports that they only use NPD, Charttrack and GFK to verify sales in US and Europe. When Activision said that COD4 sold 7 millions, they specifically said that they had used NPD, Charttrack and GFK to estimate it (and it wasn't an worldwide figure).

Again, when they say a certain figure, it means only from some of the countries tracked by NPD, Chartrack and GFK.

so apparently activision don't know how many copies of their games they are making and were the shipments go? not to mention they apparently don't know math either since they can't figure out how many copies were sold by looking at their revenue. also they don't give a shit about things like steam i guess. so how do they exist if they don't know how many copies they've produced, how many copies they've sold and apparently someone is stealing from them looking at their fiscal reports since CoD4 on pc sold so well and they didn't receive any money from the missing copies.

Ask Activision, they specifically mentioned NPD, Charttrack and GFK in their financial reports. WHen they said that COD4 sold 7 millions, they also said it was taken from NPD, Charttrack and GFK after. So it's very likely the 10 and 13 million figures were also taken from those 3 retail sales trackers.

My guess is they possibly have contract with third party companies that help with some of the load and doesn't allow Activision to know where the sales are going. I don't know, only Activision can answer.

Are you saying the Activision honchos are insane?

Shio logic lesson 1:
publishers don't know how many copies of each game they are making,
publishers send all their shipments through black holes for fun so they don't know who exactly got their games and are waiting for possible money that may or may not return by those black holes,
publishers are getting mugged by retailers instead of gamers so be thankful,
publishers obviously don't know math,
publishers are making charity work by putting games on steam since they don't receive any money from it,

lol, sounds about right.  Whats lesson 2?

i bought cod 4 to see what's the fuzz all about.
i was a little bit disappointed (i'm not a fps fan)
i wont buy mw2.
there is a lot of hype around cod 4. that explains the huge sales.
i dont think mw2 will sell more than mw1 (cod4)
