Forums - Sony - Ssj12’s VGChartz Review #2: LocoRoco: Cocoreccho

PlayStation Store games are improving and expanding into many different genres. LocoRoco is one of those many games. It’s wonderful brain teaser that will have you playing through it for hours.

Graphically the game is nothing special. A white background with cartoon styled characters rolling around definitely won’t impress your typical console gamer. The simplicity though does make the game have its own personality which is a good thing.

The music in the game sadly can get annoying. The song playing sounds like something you would hear on Barney when he is traveling a long distance. It isn’t that the song is specifically bad though. For the first ten or twenty minutes the song can actually boost your enthusiasm to beat it and it is a catchy tone.

The puzzle elements mixed with the use of the sixaxis functionality makes the game play fun. Having to use the sixaxis to get the little creatures to open trap doors or make a platform that hits you places makes it all challenging as you have to figure out if you need to shake the controller or move it up and down. Trying to get all the way through all three stages with 60 LocoRocos is a task that will take you a while.

Overall the game is fun and worth the $6.99 that it costs.

My Ratings:
Graphics: 6/10 – simplistic but simplicity isn’t always a good thing when the background is plain.
Audio: 7/10 – catch tone for a bit till you want to shot yourself after an hour of hearing it.
Game play: 9/10 – its fun puzzle game
Replay Value: 7/10 – good game to go to when you have nothing to do

Overall: 7.2/10

I think your scale should give gameplay more points. Say if

Graphics: 4/10
Audio: 8/10
Game play: 10/10
Replay Value: 8/10

The game shouldn't get a 8 because of bad graphics. Your scale should be like this

Graphics: n/10
Audio: n/10
Gameplay: n/20
Replay Value: n/15

Than average it up.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

Did you ever play locoroco for PSP? That soundtrack never got old for me... I loved it all the way through.

I fly this flag in victory!

I downloaded this game, I had £3.00 floating on it. And I seriously can't work out what to do.

What is the aim of this game?

It is fairly similar to Lemmings in that you have to get a certain number of your Loco Roco's to the next point to advance, except you have to gain new Loco Roco's rather than starting with them all by waking them up.  You just use the butterfly to move around your Loco Roco to find other Loco Roco.

I really like the soundtrack, but several people have told me it is unbearable.  The replay value is kind of low, but you can't be too demanding of a $7 game as fun as this one.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I agree that any review system that gives equal points Gameplay and Audio is a bit jacked up.

If I had a system i'd make it out of 100.

Gameplay 40 points
Replayability 30 poins
Graphics 20 points
Audio 10 points.

i could but I prefer out of ten scores, I balance it out, if it has perfect audio and crap gameplay the score will reflect that but I'll take into consideration maybe expanding things a bit.
