^ then the line "The sources estimated the growth momentum will remain strong through October thanks to the year-end holiday demand." doesn't really make sense, as october would be in the "strong" 3rd quarter anyway ... well, or maybe their fiscal quarters actually are the same as calendar year quarters

The article actually suggests 1 million consoles per month in the third quarter. "with average monthly volume enough for making one million units of the games console in the third quarter, double the average in the second quarter"

Could it be that Sony is trying to stock for the holiday season?

When was the last time it -- or any console -- sold 1M in a month? It was around Christmastime 2008.

Sony sold generally around 600k-700k units per month last fall.
