I am really annoyed right now.

Clearly, Earthworm Jim on SNES is far superior to the Mega Drive version. Everyone knows that. Yet what does the Wii get?

The Mega Drive version.

The Wii just cant win, it seems.

The Gensis/Mega Drive version is the original and published by Shiny Entertainment (now known as Interplay).  The SNES edition was a port released about a year later and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment.

Interplay announced they would support the VC with several Gensis titles which they own the rights to.  Among them was Earthworm Jim.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Actually, I'd argue that, as the lead platform, the Genesis rev (like Madden and NHL) actual play and control better (read: faster and tighter) on the Genesis, even if it isn't as quite as colorful. (The SNES rev is also missing an entire level and features some animation cuts from the Genesis version.)

So unless your entire argument hinges on the richer color palette of the SNES (and, perhaps, better music, but not better SE) the Genesis rev is actually the better version.

I remember starting gaming on atari at preschool, but my first system was an NES at age 4.
When PS1/N64 era came about all these labels "mainstream" "hardcore" "casual" started and fanboy wars.

There are a ton of games that are better on Wii than other consoles. Do you ever play soccer, tennis, golf or football games? What about Guitar Hero? I think Star Wars is better on Wii too.

my first system was russian NES knock-off with built in 40-50 classic NES games - those were the days when you could play on the old tv with friends and play Contra or Mario Bros.

some people really need to go back, read the OP and then think about it. Then come back here and post

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Actually:

1. Shiny was funded by PIE, initially, and the price was a three-game deal, so PIE published EWJ on SNES and Genesis and they came out around the same time.

2. Interplay bought Shiny around the time MDK was in development and later sold them to Atari/Infogrames who, in turn, sold them to Foundation 9 and were, in time, merged w/ The Collective to form Double Helix. (The reason Interplay owns EWJ is because they bought Shiny and they held onto the rights when they sold them on to Atari.)
