I am really annoyed right now.

Clearly, Earthworm Jim on SNES is far superior to the Mega Drive version. Everyone knows that. Yet what does the Wii get?

The Mega Drive version.

The Wii just cant win, it seems.

The Gensis/Mega Drive version is the original and published by Shiny Entertainment (now known as Interplay).  The SNES edition was a port released about a year later and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment.

Interplay announced they would support the VC with several Gensis titles which they own the rights to.  Among them was Earthworm Jim.

Actually:

1. Shiny was funded by PIE, initially, and the price was a three-game deal, so PIE published EWJ on SNES and Genesis and they came out around the same time.

2. Interplay bought Shiny around the time MDK was in development and later sold them to Atari/Infogrames who, in turn, sold them to Foundation 9 and were, in time, merged w/ The Collective to form Double Helix. (The reason Interplay owns EWJ is because they bought Shiny and they held onto the rights when they sold them on to Atari.)
