Forums - General - Vote Ron Paul for President!

What I think about his stances:

***FACTS***

Ron Paul is a constitutionalist. -
Awesome! As in the original writers intent and not the Ginsburg/ACLU's (per)version of our forefathers words.

Ron has never voted to raise taxes. -a true conservative
Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget. -we desperately need this
Ron has never voted for the Iraq War. -doesn't matter to me at this point
Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. -2nd Amendment FTW!
Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. -good keeping them balanced
Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay. -amazing, probably the only one
Ron has never taken a government-paid junket. -same as above

Ron voted against the Patriot Act. - well Lincoln/FDR suspended our rights temporarily during wartime to win the war at home & no one complained, might disagree somewhat but I can see why people believe it could become dangerous.
Ron votes against regulating the Internet. -well pedophilia/porn needs regulating but it could be done via self-regulation not Gov't (ie. the Production Codes of the movie industry worked great)
Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA. -amen! no North American Union!
Ron votes against the United Nations. -great, keep us out of the one world order!
Ron votes against the welfare state. -yes! back to our Constitution, Adam Smith; Dems worse fear
Ron votes against reinstating a military draft. -good, popular move among the young

Ron votes to preserve the constitution. -amen
Ron votes to cut government spending. -greatly needed right now
Ron votes to lower healthcare costs. -who's against this?
Ron votes to end the war on drugs. ???? does he have a better plan?
Ron votes to protect civil liberties. -okay, supports the Bill of Rights always a plus
Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform. -About time! Bush has done nothing but take orders from Mexico
Ron votes to eliminate tax funded abortions and to overturn Roe v Wade. -Amen, as Jefferson said,"All men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, among these: the right to LIFE, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (and property).
Ron votes to protect religious freedom. -We've been losing our 1st Amend. guaranteed religious rights over the past 50 years, about time they are restored to what James Madison intended!

We desperately need this man to save the Republican Party and the whole Union now more than ever! He has my support!

Im not sure if I will support anyone in this election. Although I will work whole-heartedly to keep the power hungry woman out of office.

@ Rath
I would suppose you are refering to me whenever you saying rednecks and all. I suppose your right. Being that I live in Southern USA, and I pissed if Hillary was elected. Feel warm and bubbly.

Do you not want her in office because of her gender? If so I will feel warm and bubbly on your behalf if she gets elected.

If you dont want her elected because of her policies then I'll have to find somebody else to feel warm and bubbly for.

Same applies for Obama, some people would have a fit at the thought of a black man in office. Him being elected would also make me feel warm and fuzzy.

You'll find that most of the Republicans are fearful of Hillary Clinton because she's a woman. There's really no explanation for it other than that. If they don't like liberal policies, then why are they not more fearful of Obama or Edwards? Both are significantly more liberal than Clinton.

Republicans are based in the South, and most come from families who grew up hating black people.. since racism against black people is no longer publically acceptable, they have moved their hatred toward women, immigrants and homosexuals.

You are so wrong it's funny. Have you ever heard of the solid south? 65 straight years of every single southern state only electing a democrat for office. Republicans were based in the North. Things have changed overtime, but you sound even more ignorant for saying that every single southern person has hatred toward women, immigrants, and homosexuals. And no, I don't care that Hillary is a woman. Id would easily vote for Condeliza Rice. Hillary has very retarded policies and that I don't agree with. The reason I called her a "power hungry woman" is: 1. I believe she stayed with her husband b/c of the popularity and connections that he has. He is a big key to her popularity. 2. She is a woman. That why I added woman.

Hard to say how I feel about this guy. I like a lot of what he's promising, but the scale of some of it... well, kind of brings to mind the old saying: "If it sounds too good to be true... a politician must be saying it."

I'm a republican myself, and agree with a great deal of his positions. I'm a little wary of his foreign policy concepts, actually. Yes it's important to be primarily concerned with the welfare of Americans, but I don't see how helping nations like Israel and South Korea - pressed on all sides by some pretty nasty neighbors - is a negative thing. That kind of selfishness had us sitting on our asses while Hitler began assimilating Europe. I do agree with his position on not giving up our freedoms for the sake of our security, but do keep in mind that this more sophisticated modern terrorism is tricky to fight without some improved vigilance, and he really better know how to handle it once the wire tapping and such are tossed. In any case, definitely an intriguing candidate.

Also, addressing some of the comments made about republicans being southern and racist and all this jazz... I'm a republican; I'm not racist or southern. When your bias becomes that apparent, it's time to tone it down. This comment - "Republicans are based in the South, and most come from families who grew up hating black people.. since racism against black people is no longer publically acceptable, they have moved their hatred toward women, immigrants and homosexuals." This is plain ignorant. If you actually think this is true, then you're being spoon-fed bullshite; you're somebody's sucker. It may be true of some, but not enough to generalize it this way. It's the equivalent of my saying that all democrats are immoral and hand-out mongerers.

But I think Lewis Black said it best when he said (paraphrase): "The Democratic party is a party of no ideas, and the Republican party is a party of bad ideas, okay? So a Republican will stand up and say, 'Hey! I have a sh*tty idea!' And a Democrat will quickly stand up opposite him and yell 'I can make it sh*ttier!'"

"Whenever you find a man who says he doesn't believe in a real Right and Wrong, you will find the same man going back on this a moment later."   -C.S. Lewis

Prediction: Wii passes 360 in US between July - September 2008. (Wii supply will be the issue to watch, and barring any freak incidents between now and then as well.) - 6/5/08; Wow, came true even earlier. Wii is a monster.

yah! I was thinking I was the only conservative here. I agree with what you said.

I remeber while in AU, I was talking politics and Israel came up. I said I loved that we still support them, and he looked at me like I was crazy.

Damkira your just like most Northerners, your opinion of the South is just as biased as those your are opposing.

I'm not even from the South, but I moved here several years ago I can assure you there is no more Racism then you will find in the North & Midwest (which is where I'm from).

And Stof "I like Ron Paul's personality and personal integrity. To me he's the Republican version of Dennis Kucinitch. But I could never vote for him because his policies and political ideologies just don't make any sense to me. But then again, most U.S. policies and ideologies don't make sense to me either."

That's because all of Europe is a socialist utopia now. Sadly America is sliding that way too, giving up Freedoms in exchange for protection from the government (in all aspects of our life).

I'm a staunch Libertarian, take care of your own shit, and hope the government keeps the fuck out of my activities as long as they don't infringe upon the rights of others. I would take freedom over economic safety any day of the week.

For the gaming aspect of it, look at Germany, the UK, and other European countries where Mature games are being banned. At least we still have most of our Freedom of Speech :)

Actually I was born and currently reside in Virginia... Before my last move I lived in Louisiana. Before that, it was Alabama. I've lived in most regions of the USA and never before have I seen the sheer racism and backwardness that exists in the Southern USA.

When did I ever say EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the South was a racist? I simply believe the overwhelming majority of them are.

Yes, things changed over time but back then the Democrats were the party of overt racism -- George Wallace, Jimmie Davis, Strom Thurmond... all Democratic racists. The parties have changed but southerners, for the most part, have not.

Its a good thing that Condoleeza Rice is not running for national office because she could never clear a primary.
