Hard to say how I feel about this guy. I like a lot of what he's promising, but the scale of some of it... well, kind of brings to mind the old saying: "If it sounds too good to be true... a politician must be saying it."

I'm a republican myself, and agree with a great deal of his positions. I'm a little wary of his foreign policy concepts, actually. Yes it's important to be primarily concerned with the welfare of Americans, but I don't see how helping nations like Israel and South Korea - pressed on all sides by some pretty nasty neighbors - is a negative thing. That kind of selfishness had us sitting on our asses while Hitler began assimilating Europe. I do agree with his position on not giving up our freedoms for the sake of our security, but do keep in mind that this more sophisticated modern terrorism is tricky to fight without some improved vigilance, and he really better know how to handle it once the wire tapping and such are tossed. In any case, definitely an intriguing candidate.

Also, addressing some of the comments made about republicans being southern and racist and all this jazz... I'm a republican; I'm not racist or southern. When your bias becomes that apparent, it's time to tone it down. This comment - "Republicans are based in the South, and most come from families who grew up hating black people.. since racism against black people is no longer publically acceptable, they have moved their hatred toward women, immigrants and homosexuals." This is plain ignorant. If you actually think this is true, then you're being spoon-fed bullshite; you're somebody's sucker. It may be true of some, but not enough to generalize it this way. It's the equivalent of my saying that all democrats are immoral and hand-out mongerers.

But I think Lewis Black said it best when he said (paraphrase): "The Democratic party is a party of no ideas, and the Republican party is a party of bad ideas, okay? So a Republican will stand up and say, 'Hey! I have a sh*tty idea!' And a Democrat will quickly stand up opposite him and yell 'I can make it sh*ttier!'"
