Mario games are much more similar, and theres so many more of them. What keeps that going? The characters, and the Brand power. Anything labeled with "Mario" will sell atleast 5million copies.

Super Mario Sunshine is not the same gameplay as Mario 64 and its not the same as Mario Galaxy and also not the same as NSMB
i don't think the characters matter in mario games, and i dont think nintendo needs any deep character in mario games, they just are the same label done differently.
you are right about it selling alot cause of its name. nintendo are just too lazy to come up with new characters , but if it isn't broke don't fix it

The biggest difference lately is that each one sucks worse than the last.
They are very different between them, they change story, characters, gameplay, etc...
Thats why some like a FF game and may dislike others.

Story, characters, setting, and often gameplay.
every final fantasy game is different. the battle system is restructured each time, theres different characters, and a different story sometimes it works sometimes it dosent. But thats wat makes it so great b/c its so unpredictable
