Samurai Ghost is not that good. Maybe just passable (although I enjoyed it). I think Magician Lord is the clear winner although it's 300 points more.

Magician Lord was good when it first came out, but it aged quickly.

All I can say for the worst classic Castlevania game is, "What...... a ...... horrible......night.....to....have.... a....curse" and "The morning sun has vanquised the horrible night."

I'm waiting to see if Rondo of Blood gets released on the VC.

Yeah. After reading a few reviews I quickly determined my memory was a little clouded and needed jogging. The consensus seems to be:

Castlevania II - Recommended for fans
Samurai Ghost - No
Magician Lord - No

I bought and have been enjoying Magician Lord. If you like classic, arcade-style 2D action-platformers, you will know what you are getting into.

Please note, however, that it is HARD!

Interesting note: only 1 Nintendo-published game has hit the VC in October. Which means that third parties are making money on this thing - that's a much, much lower percentage than earlier this year.
