I would be willing to bet that the Liberal democrats would support it, if enough people wanted it of course.

the liberal democrats are pissing me off atm, they stopped there opposition to faith schools purely because faith leaders asked them too, they dont know what they stand for, and they are nowhere near liberal enough, infact, there barely worthy of the name imo.
Eh. I don't see what education will do.
It's all about integration.
Even then it's not going to be smooth sailing.
I know a woman who's grandfather was racist against black people.
And her Grandmother was black... and they were married... still lived together etc.
Cut her out of his money because she dated black guys. Despite the fact that both of her parents were black and she looked black.
Intergration when people are young is the best route. Followed by people allowing to be hateful believe it or not.
With anti-hate laws that make it so people can't say outwordly racist things... it just makes racists feel persecuted against.
While if they're aloud to say what they want... the media and people of the community can shout them down.

to the contrary, education can help, people think immigration is evil in the UK, so we teach them about all the benefits it can have, reducing the number of people who hate immigrants, atleast in theory it should work, its better than nothing anyway.

Throughout history as times get hard people become more extreame, this has occured on numerous occasions. Most famously the Nazi party being voted into power. The German public wouldnt have voted them in if there was nothing wrong with the country, immigration is an easy thing to blame and with that comes religion.

Immigration has little to do with anti-semitism. Furthermore... nobody beleives economists. Afterall almost no economists saw the current economic crisis coming....
And those that did still bought houses.
As for Intergration... you know what integration means right?
It's as simple as making sure that kids go to school with kids of different races.

oh, ok, i get it, shouldnt it be different races, and religions though?
One will basically lead to the other... hopefully anyway.
I don't know how the UK works but I'm pretty sure it'd be illegal for government run schools to do anything with religion. Even so much as class placements based on it.
The US tried something like that once called "Cross bussing."
It didn't work. The white families in the cities simply moved to the suburbs because they were afraid their kids would go to the "sub par" black schools... and so a lot of big cities started to die off.
In the UK though as small as the country is that'd be pretty hard to pull off.
