Is this a suprise?
Throughout history as times get hard people become more extreame, this has occured on numerous occasions. Most famously the Nazi party being voted into power. The German public wouldnt have voted them in if there was nothing wrong with the country, immigration is an easy thing to blame and with that comes religion.
