Forums - Nintendo - Possible to play ToS:DotNW without playing ToS?

If you want to know the story you can always read the manga or watch the anime. However, I don't know if it follows the same story. Someone that watched, read and played should confirm that.

I haven't read the manga, but the anime is shortened down to 4 25-minute episodes and takes many liberties, and ends way prematurely. Not a good way to get in touch with the ToS-story, though it's sort of enjoyable if you've already played through the game.

Why would you buy the sequel to a game you don’t enjoy?

I remember feeling similar at that point in the game too. There’s cliché and then there’s ToS’s first 1/3. The only reason I stuck with TOS was because there wasn’t anything else to do that day. Obviously glad I did – think it’s a great RPG.

Who says I bought it?

Nobody... you're asking if you should buy it.

Isnt the obvious answer no if you don't like the first version?

I already have DotNW though.

Enjoy it, I'm in my third playthough

I hope you enjoy it then.

It just seems like an odd choice if you don't like the first version, once bitten, twice shy etc.

I played ToS and wasn't crazy about it.

I played Abyss and while it was interested I eventually gave up on it because Tales just didn't seem to be my kind of game.

Then I played ToV and I was completely hooked and played it for over 90+ hours.

In other words I won't know how much I like or dislike it until I give it a try.

When alls said and done make a comparison thread please I want to know how similar/disimilar it is to Vesperia's perfection.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

@Shadowblind

I am already confident that Vesperia will be the much better title.

It is only Tales game that sucked me in.
