Well it's Capcom, they revive characters like nothing, but in the Comicon Resident Evil's producer was quite enfatic to say that Wesker is not comming back except for precuels.

July 23, 2009 - Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata said in a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that popular series villain Albert Wesker is not coming back. When asked if there was any way Wesker could survive the events at the end of Resident Evil 5, Kawata firmly stated, no.

"Even if you want Albert Wesker to come back," Kawata told the crowd, "there's no chance he's coming back from that.

Luckily, they can go back in time, remake old chapters or insert new ones. Too bad such a fun villain had to die such an excruciatingly corny death.

Wait.... hasn't Wesker "died" on several occasions, only to return in later games? Hence the shocked reaction every time we meet him.

"Hey wait.... aren't you dead?"

By the way, I haven't played RE5 yet, thanks for the spoilers.

Oh boy, you're going to get yelled at for spoilers (even though the ending was widely shared on TV, internet just days after release). But yeah...figures that nobody would be able to survive that.

Didn't Capcom say this is the end of Resi as we know it? (i.e. next one is a new chapter with new characters)

It would be financial suicide if the next resi doesn't feature a well known main character (Chris, Jill, Leon ect)

Wesker "leaving" is sad (Fantastic bad guy), but he had to kick the bucket at some stage.
